I agree to an extent. Our tradition and history of success distinguishes us from the vast majority of Division 1 schools. The key to being in the national title hunt year in and year out is distinguishing yourself from the other schools that share those qualities.

I really doubt Pelini was approached for so many reasons. First, he I do not think OSU is/was prepared to name a permanent head coach. Second, even if they were, Pelini would not be the #1 candidate. Third, the image of OSU taking the Big 10 Newbie's coach 3 months before the season starts...
