IMO, it’s the perfect year to cut his teeth with play calling. There are no national championship demands or expectations for next season.

That entire first drive days a lot about ND. They are afraid of our offense because they know they need to kill clock. Also they don’t trust their receivers much against Zone 6 of they are risking their QB like that for the rest of the game.

Fickell’s issue was never his coaching talent, just his inexperience. After leading Wisconsin, he definitely has the experience, the pedigree, and the playing experience.
