You haven't mentioned trying a HDMI connection. Is this an option for you? This is what I use and since it also moves the sound, I don't have to sacrifice sound quality by depending on the laptop speakers.

Watched 'Super' with Rainn Wison, Ellen Page, and Kevin Bacon.... definitely not your everyday normal guy becomes a superhero movie. Good mix of comedy and drama and gore. Would recommend it. 8/10

I would say they're not that bad, especially since I got them for $99. The need to be broken lots more before a final judgement can be reached. On the surface I would say that the sound probably isn't as good as my Shure in-ear buds, but they are a nice change of pace with the over-the-ear style.

I've been using Shure SC310 Sound Isolating ear buds for about 2 years and love them! I would recommend them for someone looking for ear bud style. My wife picked me up the Bose QC2 over-ear style for $99 earlier this week. I should have them tonight and can't wait to try them.
