The good: Bouzakis, Mendez, D’Emilio, and Shumate.
The bad: Ryder, Gallagher and Kharchla. Just a tough go. Gallagher’s match was not good. I feel for him, but I didn’t see much urgency or fire. I thought Kharchla had Pinto toward the end of the 3rd. I was watching the matcast from my phone on...
I appreciated the updates from earlier. I was only able to catch Shumate stick Salazar and Feldman’s match. Bummer about our 4 loses. Hate to see any of our guys lose, especially Kharchla and Paddy. These dudes have worked hard and battled injuries. Maybe there’s some HEW creeping in. I hope...
Best of luck to the team today. A lot has been sacrificed over the course of the season. The dedication these kids have is next level. Making weight, switching weight, nutrition, putting their teammates ahead of themselves, staying humble. It’s a good program and it starts at the top. Go Bucks!
I’m going to ride your enthusiasm here. I hope you’re right on Feldman. I did not see their rematch, but I saw Kueter won 2-0. Pure speculation here, it seems as though it was 0-0 after 1, an escape for Kueter for a point and a ride out for an additional point in some order. He needs to figure...
Tough draw for D’Emilio and Feldman. I like Bouzakis’s and Cannon’s draw. If seeds hold throughout the tournament, there will be fireworks at 125 early, 133 early, 141, and 174. Some potential this year for great matches.
Welp, some good and some not so good this weekend. I was excited to see Cannon wrestle prior to the tournament and he delivered. I was really impressed with his ability to adapt to his opponent but maintain his aggressiveness. He has a nasty ride. Tough match against Kasak. He got caught, but...
Disappointed in the first round for McCrone and Bouzakis. That was bad. No reason for that when you already have film on your guy. Same with Ryder.
Cannon is a beast! I was exited to see him wrestle and he brought it! Into the semis! I missed Paddy’s match, but saw he was injured. Sucks...
I’m confident the time off has helped the team. Bold/not-so-bold prediction, all our guys win their first matches. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Cannon wrestle again. Should be a fun weekend of wrestling regardless.
Thanks for posting that MPhillips. So…by my estimation, we have a few 8/9 seeds. Admittedly, I have not followed the rest of the big ten so I have no idea if these seed rankings are fair or not. That said, 5 or 6 of our wrestlers being ranked in that range is interesting.
Mesenbrink doing Mesenbrink things. Kharchla had a really nice match, but came short. Could not get out on a tough ride by Haines. Ryder could not get anything going against Starocci and got tech’d. Shumate was also tech’d.
That is staggering. Where did you find that? I wonder what the difference is between the Penn State club and the Nittany Lion club. I think the Pennsylvania club is out of Philly and there are a lot of clubs that fall under Titan Mercury’s umbrella too. I wonder if the main TMWC is for athletes...
Yeah, this is going to be a tough one. I’ll take the other path and be slightly more optimistic.
125-No. 21 Brendan McCrone (R-So.) vs. No. 7 Luke Lilledahl (Fr.) Fingers crossed, I’m going with McCrone and his length. 3-0 Bucks
133-No. 11 Nic Bouzakis (R-So.) vs. No. 8 Braeden Davis (So.)...
Projected lineups taken from OSU’s official athletics page.
125-No. 21 Brendan McCrone (R-So.) vs. No. 7 Luke Lilledahl (Fr.)
133-No. 11 Nic Bouzakis (R-So.) vs. No. 8 Braeden Davis (So.)
141-No. 1 Jesse Mendez (Jr.) vs. No. 3 Beau Bartlett (Sr.+)
149-No. 7 Dylan D'Emilio (Gr.) vs. No. 2...
I agree with you. I can’t help but think Bouzakis is unfortunately on his way out. He is an enigma. One match he looks unstoppable and the next he has that “HEW” gaze. Whatever he decides, he is easy to cheer for.
There is a fairly reasonable discussion about development going on at Yappi. I...
Yeah, it’s interesting all around. I like Tom Ryan. He is about as solid of a human being there is. I reached out to him personally about an issue I was working on, and he responded. He didn’t have to, but he was incredibly gracious and kind.
Does anybody know what our “room” looks like...
