No doubt but if there's any league that drafts high just on potential its the NBA. Take a look at the last 5 drafts and see how many guys went high just because they may be the next "insert hall of famer here".
It's a stretch to say those first 6 years would lead to 900+ home runs. The dead ball era essentially ended in 1920/21 with the abolishment of the spitball, using new/clean balls throughout the game, etc. Even if Ruth was hitting full time I think it's a big stretch to say he would have hit much...
Cy Young's wins is the only truly unbreakable record on that list. You could add 5 to 10 more others like the triples record, single season average, and career ERA.
Henderson's career steals record is another tough one...he's like 30% above 2nd place. You'd have to average 70 steals for 20...
Now that I'm consciece again, I have to say I'm glad Lewis was the one taking that shot. With all the press on Oden and Conley all year I'm happy he stepped up and should get the national recognition he deserves.
