Who is going to Austin for the game?

Agreed. Broken Spoke is the last true old fashioned honky tonk in Austin. There are other, much more cheesy dance halls that I grudgingly admit I have been to: Midnite Rodeo, Dallas Night Club, Graham's (a showbiz pizza for rednecks, although I am batting 1.000 there).

    Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

This is what I posted on the very first page of this thread, January 9th. As everyone can see, we've been excited about him for a while. The difference here is, he exceeded expectations. He's going to start even though Blalock stayed. He is, in effect, replacing a redshirt junior guard...

Who is going to Austin for the game?

I know the last part is a joke, and I use it often enough. Switching Austin out for something else, of course. But it's ironic that it the city that is being used in it is by far the most educated city in Texas, and one of the most educated in the US. Texas is a lot of things, probably...

Who is going to Austin for the game?

I hate it when I see this. It's always written by someone not from Texas whose only experience is Dallas and Houston. Well yeah it's different from those cities. I don't know how and when Dallas and Houston became the standard for Texan. Pisses me off. If anything, if you want to escape...

Okay. They'll play 13 games minimum. 10-3 isn't all that impressive, especially for a team lead by a sure thing Heisman trophy winner. But 10-2 will guarantee them another trip to a BCS bowl. Blah. Nevermind, the media will cream themselves over a double digit win Irish team and a 3000+ yard...

Just curious.......... As a different way of looking at good performances, what is better? 350 total yards as a QB against tOSU (in the Shoe, at night...:D ) Or 513 total yards against Fresno State, of which about 150(?) were kick returns on numerous attempts because the USC D gave up 40...

Okay, you're right. The point is, we will have a likely** first-day draft pick taking over for another first-day draft pick. **Based on nothing more than what I've been able to gather on the internet.

Some may. But we discussed those players a few thousand posts ago, I believe. It would seem, however, that we are spending an amount of time talking about VY that is proportional to his importance to the team. David Thomas- second biggest loss to VY. Fast, strong, and caught everything...

That's what I thought at first, but that was pretty clearly a slogan meant to get a disgruntled fan base (rightfully so, I might add) excited again. It certainly wasn't a plea to prevent people from leaving early. Of course you know that, but maybe not non-UT fans.

exactly. They're not gonna say "holy crap, Vince is gone. We're so screwed" I don't know, maybe he could have been more diplomatic. But I don't see a problem with it. I know this isn't what you meant to talk about, so I apologize. But the anal retentive part of me wants to respond...

I wasn't aware of that, but it makes sense. But I think the point is, people don't notice a lot of homerism when it's directed at their team (i.e. local media), but they are very aware of and sensitive to homerism when they move or travel and hear it being directed at another team. Every...

    Joseph Barksdale (OL Arizona Cardinals)

I thought the tommy boy reference was going to be the cow thing. You know, I can stick my head up a cow's...... etc. This thread exhibits a lot of what I like about this site. Lots of objectivity and rational, level-headed discussion. Finally, on JB...... when I posted earlier in...

I was thinking, man, I must have missed this argument recently. But then I saw the quote was from April. I don't know how much he weighs, but it has been over 4 months since then. And the dude is 6'6". And I have no idea why Greg Davis would tell people he's 240lbs when he's not. Maybe...

    Oklahoma dismisses QB Bomar/NCAA probation

I am also very depressed by this news. OU is such a great school with great fans and a great coaching staff and athletic department, who would never do anything against NCAA regulations. Other than those 6 other times of course. I really like it when they persuade kids to go Benedict Arnold...

I really think xray puts that stuff in just to get a reaction. Like Drew Brees but with a supporting cast of NFLers. I gut a chuckle out of that. Thanks for the report. Does Jermichael Finley look any bigger? According to Greg Davis on 610AM, he's up to 240.

    Tailgating in Austin

Lake Austin ain't bad. Lake Travis is bigger and more scenic depending on your tastes. Also, "Lake" Austin is kind of a misnomer. It's just wide river for a several miles. You'll get to see this area though if you go far enough upriver:

Sounds pretty reasonable. I can see that scenario happening. Did you see the GOTP-fest a few dozen pages ago? That was one of the best collections of hot chicks I've ever seen on a message board. If there ever was a reason to read this thread, that would be it. Some of the posts ain't bad...

2006 BCS, polls, Bowl Predictions and computer ratings

Does anyone else think Tennessee will make some noise? I'm certainly no Vol fan, and I hate their shade of orange, but up until this last class, they were recruiting as well as anyone in the nation not counting USC. They always have a pretty tough defense, and they get a bunch of starters back...

    Tailgating in Austin

About 25-30 minutes, ~20 miles, depending on where you get in. It's a nice drive, too. For those who haven't been there in a while, there are probably a dozen houses up on the hills surrounding the cove, with several more being built. I bet they complain about the noise, too.:smash:
