Game Thread Ohio State 24, Penn State 7 (final; 11/07/09)

I thought for sure there would be at least one guy on here this week who would want the double-reverse WR pass to be our base play the rest of the year. "Just think of the possibilities!" "There's no way PSU could prepare for that." etc.......

    K Devin Barclay (Official Thread)

This is in no way meant to disparage Barclay, but without Pettrey in there, maybe JT will be a little more aggressive inside the other team's 40 yard line, and we won't be settling for as many field goals. Might be one upside coming out of this situation. There's no way to judge Barclay based...

K Aaron Pettrey (Las Vegas Locos - UFL)

If you're talking about the play where McGahee was injured, then this statement is wrong on every conceivable level. NMS player took a cheap shot.

K Aaron Pettrey (Las Vegas Locos - UFL)

I have to agree with UpNorth - this was a deliberate cheap shot, and my first thought was that it was because of the onside kick. I'm not saying their coaching staff had anything to do with it, just a heat of the moment type of thing by one of their players. Definite cheap shot though. It...

2009 tOSU Running Backs discussion (official thread)

The problem with playing Hall and Martin alot, is that a defense like PSU will blitz alot more. They will put the pressure on the younger RBs to pick up the blitzes, make the correct reads, run into an outmanned front, etc.

RB Jermil Martin (transfer to Northwestern Oklahoma State)

Cooper used the fullhouse T formation some inside the 5. I remember being at a game in '74 or so, when Woody went to the fullhouse T at about the 20 yardline. They ran the same play with Pete Johnson 4 times in a row and scored a TD. I almost felt sorry for the other team.

RB Jermil Martin (transfer to Northwestern Oklahoma State)

Brockington wore #42, IIRC. If you saw Brockington run and then saw Byars run, you would hardly mistake the two for each other. Jermil looked alot more like Brockington, but without the super-high knee action. I'm sure there were alot of (younger than dirt) guys who thought of Byars. I'd...

QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

As long as it ends in "score", I don't care how many plays it takes. Personally, I was glad to see us take advantage of a defense that was stacking against the run and short stuff today, and hit them with some big plays.

RB Jermil Martin (transfer to Northwestern Oklahoma State)

NOT Keith Byers - in any way, shape or form. John Brockington. Old-timers, back me up! (We could have really used him against USC, dang it)

    2009 tOSU Offense Discussion

That pass was to Posey, and was not picked because it was thrown "late". If anything, it was thrown too soon. TP's two main issues are, to me anyway, not seeing the field well enough and not staying cool under pressure.

WR DeVier Posey (2017 Grey Cup Champion and MVP)

Oh, crap! Did they already play this game and I missed it? Who won? Maybe Tim May can tell me. Maybe I should call the proof reader at the Dispatch to get the results ahead of time - would help me with my v-bets!

    2009 Purdue game thoughts

Are ther really people out there this stupid? OK, I know it's my own fault for checking out Dr Saturday's (again) retarded analysis....but like staring at a car wreck, I couldn't help it. This was from one of the lunies that apparently reads and posts on the yahoo site....funny as hell except...

Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

And he CHANGED his offensive philosophy!!!! And thus started an incredible 8 year run that has not been equalled at tOSU. That was the year 3 yards and a cloud of dust pretty much died out and was replace by 8 yards and a rug burn. Yeah, he still used the fullback a ton, but until Archie got...

    2009 tOSU Offense Discussion

I agree the line was not very good today - but if you cmoe up with a scheme where 6 guys can block 7 or 8 guys consistently play after play, then please share it with the rest of us.

QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

My expectations for ANY QB at tOSU does not include four turnovers and numerous terrible throws that cost us points or first downs. Whether that QB is TP or someone else. Do I expect him to have mastery of the game akin to Peyton Manning? Hell no. But I also don't expect to see an offense on...

What are you talking about? The entire offensive operation at this point is one huge cluster[censored].

    2009 tOSU Offense Discussion

Why don't we just take a knee on second down? Or better yet - someone can hypnotize JT into thinking every play is first down. We have been generally very good on first down and generally pathetic on second down this year.

    Game Thread Wisconsin 13, tOSU 31 (Oct 10, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN)

No, you just have to understand "Bielemaball", which consists of the ability to control the game from behind on the scoreboard. It's a very complicated concept, and not many understand it outside of Wisconsin and the CFN staff. In fact, when OSU takes a 3 TD lead, don't be surprised to see ESPN...

K Aaron Pettrey (Las Vegas Locos - UFL)

He seems to be having a lot of trouble kicking from the hash marks. Needs to work on those angles and get comfortable and confident.
