If we're going to take a flyer on a mid-round quarterback, I'd rather pick someone who didn't abandon his team before the bowl game because he was butt hurt.
They can't be that dumb. They've actually been going out of their way to bring in Buckeyes over the past several years. Hopefully they realize McCord is no Buckeye.
The biggest tell is that someone would have been fired if it wasn't an ownership decision. If Berry was the one that went to Haslam and said "We need to do whatever it takes to get Watson," He'd be gone.
Or have the Army/Navy game week 0 so it's still special, but it would count for the playoff. That being said in the NIL age no academy should ever be good enough to be in the top 12 unless they start offering million-dollar sign-up bonuses to cadets.
It isn't just about money for Garrett. I get that he wants to win and realizes that he probably only has a couple prime years left. The Watson trade/contract ruined the Browns salary cap situation and they haven't done a good enough job drafting talent to have a SB level team. In order to get...
Jed didn't work out, but that is pretty common. Becton flamed out until the Eagles moved him to OG. Wirfs would have been the right pick, but he played RT for the first part of his career until they moved him. Maybe Wills would have done better if they moved Conklin over and let him play RT to...
That's what I'm thinking. If/when they fire Stefanski he's going to go on and be one of the best coaches. There's a reason why the offense gets better every time Watson gets hurt. Find him a better version of Joe Flacco and see what he can do.
Thus why the fact that nobody has been fired for the worst trade in NFL history the Watson trade was 100% ownership. If Garrett gets traded they might as well trade every player with value to stock up picks and rebuild the salary cap rollover for the next run. Berry's drafting has been shitty...
I think it's perplexing why a guy that seemed to have everything he needed would jump ship. Did PSU offer more money? Maybe, but would tOSU have matched any offer if they wanted him to stay? I'm sure they would have so why did he want to leave or why did Day want him to go? Didn't he just sign...
IIRC the defense played well against TTUN and good overall since the first Oregon game. It isn't Knowles' fault the offense turned over the ball inside the 10 and the defense gave up a TD against scUM.
