  1. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

it was a brutal day pretty much all around. throws won a lot of points, but they were not happy with any marks. distance choked. sprinters were dominated by harris, but he is impressive. 4x100 will improve when thomas and chekwa (chimdi attended for at least a portion btw) come in. personally it...
  2. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

to add to bk's great points as usual: this was the first meet of the outdoor season whereas it's basically midseason for the rest of the nation. acc for example i believe has their conf championships in like 2 weeks or so. it seems that the coaches mainly wanted to get their kids some work...
  3. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

definitely agree with everything you said bk just want to add to your points: gary is a distance guy so he brings in more distance guys that's the main reason for the extra attention there. another sprinter would've been nice, but it's not a huge need compared to jumps/multi, and they don't...
  4. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

let me clarify: the impression i got was jeff needs some rest but they fully expect him to be ok. my apologies if i worried anyone. unfortunately, however, elon simms is out for the rest of the year. the team left 6 scholarship athletes at home for indoors for various reasons. those athletes...
  5. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

jeff see had a stress fracture so he was unable to compete; here's hoping he gets healthy. that was an easy 10 points (conservative estimate), which would have put them in 3rd maybe 2nd. overall a really good performance--congratulations to the team. these young kids will only get better as...

hey there, sorry i didn't get to this until tonight. i'll check with the person i know on the team and get back to you in a bit.
  7. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Yeah, some of the older guys get the longer leash on this. Hartline last year did indoor hurdles for example. This year, Chimdi will be in his third season running track so i'm not surprised.

MTRK: Buckeyes Conclude Action at Akron Invitational; Big Ten's in Two Weeks - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com chimdi with a 6.81; pretty sick for his first run of the year. big ten's in two weeks...very exciting!
  9. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

the entire throws team is strong too. they're putting up big distances for frosh/soph this early in the season and as a result pushing the seniors which is great. there should be a handful well over 60ft in shot and weight when they hit peak training strength at the end of the season. also...
  10. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

in jumps i was referring to what bk said in maybe someone has done jumps before and the team is weak in that area so he asks. i can't think of anyone off the top of my head, but maybe/hopefully if someone has that background? in terms of practicing/participating there always seems to be at least...
  11. 2008-2009 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

for those of you who like the football player updates: chimdi is running indoor and outdoor, thomas was at the track meeting and the hout invitational so it looks like he'll be at outdoor. saine was rumored but i think they nixed that and want him resting his knee. the 4x100 depth with chimdi...
  12. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

fyi: chekwa, jenkins, and hartline will be coming back out for outdoor after the spring game.
  13. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Was anyone else there (basically in this thread that's you buckeyecoach/bk haha)? I thought it was an awesome atmosphere. Perfect weather, great competition/marks, and ultimately a big win...I don't think the coaches could have asked for anything more to kick off the season. I think the momentum...
  14. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

just heard about the festivities surrounding the dual with michigan next saturday. band, cheerleaders, varsity athletes from other sports will be there. jt will be doing the starting gun for either the 4x100 or 4x400 (can't remember right now). there will be a cookout for the team and the track...

Men?s T&F: Ohio State Opens Action at Big Ten Championships - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com At the start of the day the team was in 6th, but as the article mentioned, a lot of people in the finals plus throws team looked great in warm-ups yesterday...
  16. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Updates: Unfortunately the thrower from GA changed his mind and is going to Auburn now, and Hartline joined the team for the indoor and outdoor hurdles this year.
  17. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Completely agree, they have a great staff and a very intense training regimen (even more focused than last year), which is already paying off. The attitude comes from the coaches, and the kids have fed off of that. With football I was just referring to the fact that at Big 10s last year the team...
  18. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Men's T&F: No. 21 Ohio State Heads South to Lexington - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com Top 25 ranking and top throws team nationally--the coaches/team couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. Hopefully the momentum will carry right on...
  19. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

The meet was a lot closer than the score indicates. There were a few slips in events we were expected to win, which cost the team a big swing in points, but overall people performed well. I know a few people set pr's right out of the gate, which is a great sign. As for the parallels between...
  20. DB Malcolm Jenkins (All B1G, All-American, Thorpe Award, All-Pro, 2x Super Bowl Champion)
