Exactly.
With our offensive system, give me the dynamic runner... as I said, if you can take that guy and within a couple years get him to become a decent passer, you will have a damn good offense. Their ability to run really puts the defense at a disadvantage and can open up passing windows...
I feel like those guys are hard to project. Brantley was a five star passer out of high school. If a guy like that never becomes a great thrower they are worthless. The dual threat who even becomes just an average passer can be a Heisman candidate.. just look at Braxton this year.
First QB prospect I've liked for our offense (other then the 2-3 dual threats who have committed elsewhere) in the 2014 class.
We need a dynamic runner. No offense to Barker, Henderson, or the Allen kid, but they simply don't move well enough to provide a game changing run threat.
Can these...
I watched that interview and I don't think he said we were the leader. He says we're "at top of the list" and clarifies later that he doesn't have an order and that we're with a couple other teams "at the top"..
Now that was before his visit, so I dunno if the visit changed that.
Seems like holding is very rarely called these days. It's at the point where it's getting ridiculous. If the offensive man gets his hands on the defender first, they pretty much let you do whatever you want with that guy.
The last play of the game was a total joke. Spence was clearly held. I...
Shockingly the defense actually played well after falling down 14-10.. things could have gotten very dicey.. but I think they ran off a couple three and outs.. they actually seem to have the IU route combinations down pretty well... thought they'd have more guys running free based on what we've...
This what stops Shazier from being a great player.. On that third down.. you have help on the outside.. why are you overpursuing and letting the man cut back inside... force that ball to the damn sideline where you have another tackler and the sideline
I feel like we ran into these issues sometimes during the Tressel era and Heacock would always say we're going to dummy down the gameplan this week and just get back to fundamentals. See the ball, get the ball, get the man down. Against a relatively vanilla power run team like MSU, maybe dumbing...
Large reason they are on field so long is they can't get people down. Go back to first quarter and watch them blown tackle after tackle on third downs. If they want off the field, they need to make a play every now and then.
In the Cal game, Curtis actually made two very good plays. He also made two very bad plays. Rest of the time I think he's played like the rest of our LBs, which is mediocre at best.
Don't know what he specifically did to warrant time on the bench. Shazier makes a lot of tackles but overruns...
Agreed part of the tackling issue may have to do with the fact our LBs and DBs are forced to approach skills players from 5-10 yards away in the open field.. it's hard to put a clean form tackle on a skill player who has their body square and a head of steam.
Another 400 yard effort by an opponent.
No pass rush from front four
No generated pass rush through scheme
Horrid tackling by pretty much every unit on the field
No adjustments to stop the run or screen game
Another week with no improvement or development. In a season where there...
No he hasn't. Feel kind of bad for him. He's played what, 20-25 snaps all season? His buddies have blown numerous plays and gotten multiple chances.. Seems like Curtis made a couple bad plays vs Cal and got thrown to the bench.
Didn't see the tackling improvements. Lesser athletes in comparison to Cal may make it seem thay way, but it seems our first tackler never gets the man down. Saw nothing defensively to make me feel better about this group.
