Bailey has really pitched well through trouble today. He must have gotten out of 4 jams with a runner on 2nd and less than 2 out. Good job by him tonight. Hopefully we can add a couple against the Houston pen.
At least, since we all know Dusty likes to separate the Lefties, with a Stubbs/Ankiel platoon, half of the time you wont have a sub .300 OBP guy hitting in front of Votto. I suppose Dusty could always hit Ankiel leadoff and Cozart 2nd though...
I wouldn't be opposed to picking up Ankiel, provided we don't give up anything of value for him. Ankiel really isnt much of a hitter, but he is LH and is very good defensively. He is a definite upgrade over Xavier Paul.
What I'd really like to see happen is for them to trade for a LH leadoff...
The Reds landed the 5th pick in the 1st round during the competitive balance lottery. The pick should be somewhere around 36-37 according to MLB Network. It should be interesting to what kind of value teams place on these picks and whether the Reds are able to use the pick in a trade before the...
I think they'll wait to see if Hamilton hits in AA before making any decision. If he hits then obviously you have to make a decision sooner. If he struggles and his ETA is delayed, then you have more time to figure things out. Regardless, Hamilton will probably be in the minors for 2 more years...
Again Stubbs fails at getting a bunt down. There really is no benefit to this team in hitting him second. Good thing is Votto gets to bat instead of getting walked.
I think you're mixing up Henry Rodriguez and Didi Gregorious. Henry Rodriguez plays 3B/2B. Didi Gregorious, is the SS who just got promoted to AAA from Pensacola. Gregorious is very good with the glove, but has struggled a bit at the plate. I'd like to see Rodriguez in a Reds uniform sometime in...
Of course Upton would be an upgrade over what he have in LF, but the Reds would almost certainly have to give up Hamilton in order to get Upton. If we somehow were to keep Hamilton, Upton would then require a complete gutting of our system as Corcino, Cingrani, Gregorious, Lotzkar, Joseph and...
Sorry for keeping us off topic and you can delete this if you want, but I had to post this regarding Foster. It seems Foster gave almost the exact same statement on his switch from Alabama to Auburn as TJ Yeldon did last year when he switched from Auburn to Alabama.
Yeldon on switch from...
Again, we fail to get the runner in from 3rd with less than 2 out after Stubbs tripled to lead off the inning. We must be somewhere around 1-8 today in this situation. Hopefully Aroldis makes it a moot point.
Good bounce back from the albatross that was yesterday's game. Arroyo had the Pads baffled all game long. Amazing as it is to think about, if we take the last 2 from the Padres, we actually will have had a winning West Coast swing.
There it is. Stubbs with a double to get off the schneid. Hopefully this will get him going because it seems apparent that he's staying at the top of the order. Votto drives him in. 6-0 Reds.
Stubbs just hit an absolute rocket...right at the 3rd baseman, who caught it and doubled off Arroyo. Gotta feel a sorry for the guy on that one. Just bad luck to make him 0 for 31.
Another base running error for the Reds as Cozart gets picked off. On the bright side, Cozart probably wouldn't have moved from 1st base anyway, so it probably didnt cost us too much. Another K for Stubbs.
Baker continues to amaze. If Stubbs gets on base in front of Votto and steals, then they'll just walk or pitch around Votto. Which would you prefer: having the bat taken out of the 8th hitters hands OR having the bat taken out of the best hitter in the NL's hands? Baker seems to prefer the...
Well, if Sam LeCure is able to get us out of this, then Baker has made the best move he has made all season, otherwise it's just plain stupid and a waste of an arm for tomorrow.
