Woah! That's a heck of a statement! Time may very well prove that USC is not one of the Top 3 teams in the nation, but when looking at results so far as well as potential and preseason ranking, I would imagine it difficult to come up with three teams better than USC at this point in the year...
Although your post was certainly written with the Scarlet and Grey glasses on, I must say that I agree with several of your points.
Virginia's defense gave up, their offense quit trying, and they never helped themselves out by limiting turnovers or bonehead plays. Also, as many have pointed...
I expect the OSU-USC game to be a great, closely contested game. That said, I imagine Boeckman will play most of it and no matter how talented Pryor is, I dont expect him to have a major impact aside from short yardage plays. You just cant rationally expect a freshman who has yet to see even a...
In past years, the USC MO has been to blow out OOC opponents, underperform against Pac Ten foes and then blow out their BCS opponent (save for Texas!) Carroll likes to come out and kill OOC teams but the Trojans usually dont look as good during Pac Ten play.
That said, this game will be close...
Im a lifelong USC fan and even I have difficulty drinking that much of the Kool Aid. Virginia just was not that good, period. I dont mean that as a slight to the Cavs, but you can come to conclusions about SC based on a game played against a team with no offense, no defense, and no special...
I think they will spend most of it getting their team mentally prepared to play such a good opponent so early in the season. I have a tough time believing that the SC players have yet to put the UVA victory behind them and realize that they are playing the best team they will see all year in...
Being a USC fan I hate to say this but UVA just wasnt very good, period. Theyve got some talent but their entire team looked intimidated, disorganized, and overwhelmed. Im oretty sure they would be in the bottom tier of both the Pac Ten and Big Ten if they played there. I hope they prove me...
I meant a BCS game. Must have been a Freudian slip!:D
OU is still a fine team year end year out but Stoops seems to year them out in time for the Bowl season every year.
I agree with you there. I personally hate the Big 12 more than I do the SEC or any other conference for that matter so it wont take much to get me to agree that they are overrated. That said, as an unbiased as possible fan of CFB, I still cant bring myself to say that the top of Big Ten is as...
I think in this specific year there is no argument to be made that either the Pac Ten or Big Ten are as good or better than the Big 12. The Big Ten and Pac Ten both basically have one good team and then a bunch of squads chasing the #2. The Big 12 has OU, Texas, and Mizzou which all would easily...
I don,t think that is putting him on any type of pedestal. Look at it this way, if Sanchez had crumpled to the ground and clutched his knee on Saturday, would Tressel be at home pumping his fists in glee? Probably not, for two reasons:
1) Coaches don,t like to see players from any team get...
Strategically Im pretty sure PC wants him there anyways because a loss, blowout loss, win, or blowout win, would all look worse if Wells wasn't playing for OSU. If youre going to play a big, marquee game at the beginning of the season that will influence your rankings in some way, you want...
I know a lot of CFB coaches are jackasses and some are just plain mean but I have difficulty believing that any coach takes injuries lightly just because they know what a total, unpedictable bitch they are. PC is a coach whose teams in the last year have been plagued by injuries all over the...
I doubt Carroll was making light of Beanie Wells' injury, especially since he is a coach whose teams have been consistently some of the most injured in the land. If he was, however, taking Wells injury lightly that would certainly be unfortunate.
Robo and Hartline are top notch but they arent huge guys, especially Hartline. Although the SC corners arent huge, the safeties are both big and fast so Robo and Hartline will need to be more aware of their routes and Boackman will have to throw the ball where only his receivers can get it. He...
This is an interesting point for both teams. The USC secondary is really big and if the OSU receivers dont get physical with them, they could end up having massive difficulty getting off the line and creating enough seperation for Boeckman to work with.
For USC's part, the short stuff they were...
I don't understand where youre coming from.
I said that I doubt Sanchez will just collapse but he has to realize he won't enjoy nearly as much time in the pocket as he did against UVA.
I then said that the OSU victory didn't tell me anything about Boeckman's ability to face the blitz, which...
