I don’t know what you mean by gifted. You were gifted a game against Iowa. Don’t get destroyed and you are solidly in with a win over Wiscy. 31 points is inexcusable and not championship material - unless you guys get in and win the whole thing.
I feel like they all fell apart. I don’t know why, but i feel like losing francois made everybody quit. Just a gut feel.
They looked pretty good in the game.
I'm one of the few people that think the FSU victory was impressive.
Other than that, they haven't done anything but beat who they were scheduled to play. They won all their "easy" games by wide margins (which OSU didn't do). They won their games against good teams. They lost a rivalry game...
The loss by 31 is killer.
I don't really like Bama's chances if they were to make the playoffs this year. Bama has not looked great against quality competition. What I mean by that is a big win over Wisconsin would probably get OSU in. A regular win probably wouldn't do it.
Bama's only loss...
While I’m talking to myself here. Bama’s WRs are generally terrible route runners. They just can’t get open, or do something dumb like running a 2 yd route on fourth and 4 (see Robert Foster on Saturday). It makes Jalen, who is probably an above average passer, look very average. Combine that...
Saban has been pretty damn good at not letting this happen at Bama. Saturday was the first double digit loss I can remember in a long time.
Even in the last game against OSU, Bama had the ball to end the game with a chance to tie.
That is correct. Especially so for a guy that isn’t so good at x’s and o’s like Saban. I think he has done so. You also have to convince the boosters and the university to write big checks, which he has also done.
I actually heard one guy saying saban had lost his edge and it was time for him to go.
The real answer is Bama has been losing lots of guys early to the draft and had a couple of "down" years recruiting in the trenches.
In college, a large part of being the coach is recruiting talent. He's the best recruiter and system builder in the biz. He's def not the best X's and O's guy.
Bama lost the championship in the lead up to the Washington game. During a time when the offense should have improved it (Hurts especially) took a step back.
