Consider registering! Fewer and higher quality ads, no emails you don't want, access to all the forums, download game torrents, private messages, polls, Sportsbook, etc. Even if you just want to lurk, there are a lot of good reasons to register!
I'm not really sure, this might be of some help. From what I can tell, if space is more important than saving a few seconds on load time you'd be fine with a standard HDD (this one).

I would probably look at getting a SSHD (Hybrid) drive.

I don't think CF was the reason I got hurt, but it certainly didn't help matters. If I ever pick it up again I certainly wont be going to a gym where the "trainers" got certified in a weekend.
