Meyer's teams lose last Saturday. We could count on one of those just about every year and I was there in 2007 when Tressel got Illini-ed at home. This one didn't let that happen. This team could still do what we all thought/hoped or it could go the other way. We'll know this Saturday.
I live in Atlanta and heard all the same things about Richt for years. They won a lot of games and sent a lot of players to the league (sound familiar?), but just couldn't ever get it together with him. I hope that's not who Day is. The rest of the season will tell us. He has the opportunity...
We're not getting rid of Day mid-season. His gig depends on what he does against psu, scum, mighty ducks II, and how we do in the playoff. Beat the Joepas, Vulverines, and ducks and we're back to even. Run the table in the playoff and he's Kirby Smart. If he doesn't, it's over. Either way...
Firing Day because of a one point loss at Oregon is just stupid. We can't even have an adult conversation about that. If he loses to state Penn and scum, we have a problem.
Everyone agrees about that. The point was we'll likely get another shot at Oregon and can win it (even without Simmons) and could've won a rematch against uga.
I'd feel a lot better about our end of year prospects and Day breaking free of the can't win the close ones narrative had we not lost Simmons. It's still all there to be won and this was one that I think we could get back in the B1G game. Like the uga game, we weren't blown out or outclassed...
Takes so much pressure off of the offense. Not that they're not great, but some games you just don't have it all. When your jumper is off, you play defense until you get the flow back. It's a lot easier to get it together when you're not 21 down.
I'm excited to see how JJS plays in the biggest games the first of which, obviously, will be this weekend and how he manages hitting (or if he even hits) the freshman fatigue wall 2/3s of the way through the season. I'm inclined to think that he has nothing but a near vertical trajectory, were...
Those two ran the hell out of the ball at UCLA and Kelly didn't seem to push for Frye to be replaced, so I felt good about the prospect. I think we made the assumption and maybe Day and Frye did, too, that because they'd both worked well with Kelly they'd work well together. The real world...
