OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (Official Thread)

If OSU didn't get in because of a tougher schedule, I'd agree. But they didn't get in because of losing by 60 combined points to IOWA/PURDUE. Lose to those teams by a combined 20 points and they're in 5 straight playoffs imo.

OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (Official Thread)

They win it all in 2015, that's for sure. Also don't get embarrassed in 2016 and are in the playoffs most likely in 2017 and 2018. Oh, and while I still believe he would have retired soon, he wouldn't have retired in 2018. So, maybe a little more? Edit: imo, they're Clemson. Unfair to say...

QB Matthew Baldwin (transfer to TCU)

At best you probably now need to rotate every other year: elite QB, good QB, elite QB, good QB. You may still be able to do that (if you can, of course). But I don't see how you can possibly get 3/4 years having a great QB like OSU has. That's why I'm not too worried about 2019 QB. But it may...

    Matt Barnes (DC Memphis Tigers)

Gotcha. One of the quoted tweets up-thread botched it then and had it backwards (LB coach the entire time and ST his last year only).

    Matt Barnes (DC Memphis Tigers)

Doesn't seem correct. He was ST only during that time. Only had a position title last year.

Ohhhhhh. He thought he had to transfer to the defense. I see the mistake now.

    2019 tOSU Offense (Official Thread)

If Jordan had come back i think this team is 100% on par with bama/Clemson in 2019. But if 1) Bowen is 100% recovered, 2) Alibi/NPF are able to be good at RT, and 3) no injuries I think they're still able to compete with those teams.

    Co-DC Greg Mattison (Official Thread)

Harbaugh. He retained him but brought the murderer (names escaping me). So basically what urban did with Fickell but DC to position coach.

WR Garrett Wilson (All B1G, 1st Team All American, 2022 OROY, New York Jets)

You're comparing apples to oranges. Firstly, Olave was a true freshman in a loaded WR room. Wilson is a true freshman in a depleted WR room. Also, Wilson is here right now. Olave was here in June last year. Wilson will be in the rotation unless KJ Hill stays and/or Babb is a stud right after...

Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

So are you guys just finding it difficult emotionally to move this to the alumni thread?

    Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Something I wouldn't hate?: One year of Schiano, and then transition into a Schiano for Ash trade.

OL Michael Jordan (Green Bay Packers)

I truly think you can do a true rotation with Bowen on the right side Splitting time with Davis and Frere. He's too good to be a backup and unless he wants to play a 6th year, this is it for him.

OL Michael Jordan (Green Bay Packers)

My guess is that the drop off to Brady Taylor was quite large, but the drop off to Josh Myers isn't expected to be next year.

    2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I think he will be compared to Urban and the new standard he's set, but at the same time not be crushed as long as he approaches it without actually reaching it. Urban won 90% of his games while at OSU, which is absurd. If Day, over 5 years for example, wins 80% of his games and let's say 1/2...

    2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I agree with most here that 2019 truly could be a program defining year for OSU/Day. Typically the results of a season are felt two years down the line, but there will absolutely be a direct impact on 2020 IMO. If OSU goes 12-1 and off to the playoff, I think the 2020 class will be loaded and...

Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

This. With a guy on an Urban Meyer staff that is there to at least ATTEMPT a continuance of what has been going on (even if only 90% as successful), it's worth the risk. Imagine if Dan Mullen was still on staff when he initially retired at UF? That would have been infinitely more smooth than...

Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Yeah I'd certainly bet against it. There's probably a better chance of him coaching at OSU than being the AD.

Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

That could be possible. I know they can't do the same procedure which is probably the recommended procedure to be done. But I thought I read somewhere that there something different that can be done that could be a long-term solution where it basically allows the cyst to drain constantly into a...

    tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Well, unless Tate transfers to LSU. That'd be convenient.
