That’s solely a Zach Smith report. That’s not being reported anywhere else.
Not speaking to the validity of it. Just saying that’s where it originated.
What pod?
Go back and listen to any fall camp presser when there was a QB battle. He says the same exact thing every time. “Need more consistency” or “hasn't done anything spectacular, but we don’t need him to” or “limit mistakes and trust the guys around him.”
It’s like a script.
I’m agreeing with you. If we have to deal with coach-speak, fans should be smart enough to not hang on to every word and draw conclusions from it. Especially early in fall camp.
It’s the same rodeo every year.
The only thing worse than that, is the fact that people haven’t caught on it after all these years. There’s a whole army platoon on Twitter ready to ride on Kyle McCord and Ryan Day because he hasn’t named a starter yet. “Ryan Day is botching this QB battle!” and “What has Kyle been doing these...
So where did you see Lathan fall down in coverage or have any indication that he would do so while in coverage prior to the UGA game?
What repeated evidence was there? Are we just making things up now?
Explain to me like I’m 5 how it’s a coaches fault that a player falls down.
And if you don’t believe the defense improved last season, I’ll leave this conversation alone right now. There’s no reasoning.
The game plan against UM was fine. The execution was the problem.
Before the game, EVERYBODY said the best chance to win is to stop the run game and make McCarthy beat you. Missed tackles, bad angles, and poor man-to-man coverage are all on the players.
All the commentary and complaining about…basically everything…is exhausting and way more annoying than anything that’s happened in recruiting and on the field.
Nah. I would think that it would do the opposite due to the, perceived or real, volatility.
If coaches believe anything can and will happen due to NIL, it only makes the most sense to cast a wider net. But again, I don’t make recruiting strategies for a living.
Last minute flips would seem...
There were tons of misses under Urban too. The only difference now is the philosophy of investing all of their time and resources into a smaller pool of recruits, which doesn’t allow them to circle back on guys like Urban did.
I’m not really a fan of it, but I’m not paid big bucks to come up...
The most recent would probably be RB Jaylan Knighton, who committed to the staff in person and then publicly committed to Miami.
He’s since transferred to SMU.
Not completely out of left field. I know he isn’t as visible anymore since he’s behind a paywall, but Birm called him to the class since like February.
I really really like his highlight tape. He triggers very fast and isn’t shy about contact. I’d like to see him stick to the WR’s hip a little better in downfield coverage, but he looks really good.
It was Marc Givler. He had just finished watching one of their spring scrimmages. They do yearly tours of southern schools with OSU targets. He said Eddrick was the best player they saw on their trip this year.
Edited to add quick video from Marc
