In my opinion returning punts is the last thing he should try because he will be smacked on the first attempt and reaggravate his injury. Only if he feels 100% and then some should he even think about returning punts.
Playing h-back means he will have heavy contact every time he runs the ball.
Playing wide receiver means he will be tackled on a good portion of the times he touches or attempts to touch the ball but he would touch the ball much less often than QB and have less contact than H-back.
