I don't get how the coaches up there can be so good at selling their capability to the athletic department and so bad at selling their capability to 18 year olds. Must be their athletic department has much lower standards...

This argument is circular. All the elite players are going to the schools who go to the playoffs because they are the only ones in the playoffs. If the playoffs are expanded, the elite players will spread to more teams because there will be more than 6 teams regularly going to the playoffs.
The same worries when your significant other and her single ex-boyfriend are still friends. Sure, you will reassure yourself, but it just feels safer when the ex has a love interest as well.
Whenever I listen to recruiting reporters interview recruits, I cringe. It always sounds like they're interviewing someone for the first time in their lives.
I guess I should've been more clear. For a kid whose dad played at TTUN, we have a good a shot as we could hope for with Coombs recruiting him to a position where we put player after player into the league.
Well, if Coombs can't get it done, I don't think Ohio State could've done much differently. Coombs is a great CB coach, he's great at recruiting, and he knows a thing or two about planting flags in that state up north. Ohio State really couldn't ask for a better day of circumstances.
