I get that you folks hate Michigan with the passion of a thousand dying suns, and that's cool. But you're out of your gord if you think Warde Manuel is A) good at his job B) even aware of what his job is or C) the victim here. I wanted his ass rode out of town with the absolute quickness over the Mel Pearson scandal. This dude was always going; he just made it official by feuding with the football coach.

Oh we don't think he is good at his job.

I'm not saying he's the "victim" but it's been public knowledge for a long time that Harbaugh becomes very very difficult to work with and will outright ignore and go against his superiors. My post was more directed at the group who seems to want to act like Harbaugh has done nothing wrong and Warde just hates him for some reason.

I mean, I guess? As far as I'm concerned, the biggest crime Jim Harbaugh has committed is his last two recruiting classes and that gameplan versus TCU. Folks want me to get bent out of shape about four level II's and telling the NCAA to eat it over Jug burgers but that is absolutely not happening; I don't care, and neither would you or any other college football fan.

You know full well we're not going down for ANY of this; the Weiss thing is way scarier to me. If the NCAA wants to do this, right here, right now, over burgers and watching a workout on Zoom? They will lose. And not one person in here will cry a single tear for their destruction.

I just don't think these are the droids you're looking for; assuming I'm allowed to say that in this thread.

So you believe next season will be Harbaugh’s best team at Michigan ever? Can you dig into that a little bit more?

Still dicey on whether or not this if the forum for serious discussions about the Wolverines so mods, if I'm out of line just forgive me and delete or whatever? Kthanx.

The short answer is "JJ McCarthy is a five star QB, 1st round NFL talent, going into his third year" - Jim's best QB to this point has been either Jake Rudock or Cade McNamara. Assuming his development continues, next year JJ will be a lot better than either of them. I get that none of you believe that about JJ but you're not NFL talent scouts so I don't much care; they're pretty excited about McCarthy's tools.

The fuller answer is "we're loaded on the Oline, at DT, we expect a huge leap from our linebackers, and Will Johnson is a pure shutdown corner with elite ability." You know we're loaded at RB; nobody in the country has a better 1-2 than Corum and Edwards.

The only holes on the team, right now, are CB2 and Edge. *IF* everyone stays healthy, this Michigan team will be undefeated going into the OSU game and we can play for the right to a postseason in Ann Arbor against the Buckeyes.

Harbaugh not being able to turn the last 2 years of success into some better recruiting is a big blow. It's actually gotten WORSE on paper

2021 finished 13th with a 90.21 player average and that was coming off of the 2020 fiasco
2020 10th with a 90.59 player average

People love to blame it on Michigan "not going along with NIL" but it just seems like Harbaugh doesn't really like recruiting much, and that dislike gets more and more as the years go on.

I can't disagree with any of that; I think Jim Harbaugh is, at least, at this point, a bad recruiter. I dunno what happened, because he WAS getting better classes than this - perhaps the stink of the 2019 OSU game and 2020 just makes him unpalpable to recruits? No clue. But our recruiting is absolutely a hot mess and we're going to take a dip after this team graduates a ton of guys we recruited BEFORE 2021. Especially at QB; we are so boned we're trying to push the walk on who just got a scholarship as a prospect of some kind, Warren or whatever? Gimme a break.

I predict an 8-4 kind of season in 2024. Which is part of the reason I am not sure Jim will be here for more than one more year, even IF we give him a big new contract.

I think their defensive depth is looking to be pretty bad all around. That could be a problem later in the season. The starters are good enough to handle everyone in the B1G with Ohio State and Penn State being the only real challenges late in the season.

Offensively keeping Corum and Edwards would huge, they'll continue to run all over everyone as long as the new OL gels well with multiple transfers coming in.

Throwing the ball I think they kind of are what they are, the WRs just aren't very good, it'll probably be the same check down heavy passing offense relying on McCarthy just making easy decisions and not turning the ball over much. They ABSOLUTELY need to keep McCarthy healthy though. As stated multiple times if he gets hurt the season is over at that point. Their backup situation is dreadful.

Lol yea, Davis Warren. He had a decent spring game which immediately made GoBlow go stiff over him. But he's still a walk on who's only offer out of HS I can find was fucking Fordham. It's him and 2 low 3*s from the 2022 class (Dengal who was the #28 QB in the class and Orji who was the #30) along with this years addition, Ronnie Bells kid brother who let's be real, is only there because they had a open spot and he is Ronnie Bell's brother. The need for a upper level QB in 2024 is BAD, but it looks like it's going to be Jadyn Davis or bust, if it's bust they are going to end up settling for another lower end guy.

Jim does seem like the type who would know that the well is running dry going into 2024 (especially if McCarthy goes pro after 23) and then leave because he knows what's ahead.

The team is one J.J. injury from going 8-4 in 2023.
