The Ohio State softball program will have a new leader in 2025.

Ohio State fired head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly on Monday. In 12 seasons with the program, Kovach Schoenly led the Buckeyes to a 367-226-1 record and five NCAA Regional appearances.

“On behalf of the department, I want to thank Kelly for her leadership of the program and for the positive impact, both on and off the field, on the many student-athletes who wore the Scarlet and Gray during her tenure,” Ohio State executive associate athletic director Mike Penner said in a statement.

About time. The state of Ohio is loaded with talent and most of it doesn't even get recruited by OSU.

I coach at Watkins Memorial (made D1 state final 4 three years in a row and currently ranked #2 in state) and we currently have 4 girls committed to D1 schools. All 4 said either OSU didn't even recruit them at all or that the now fired HC was a major beyotch so they didn't even look OSU's way

I had heard that through the grapevine. Carsyn and Jordyn not getting a look is friggin criminal.

Fredo's coach has them in as a 3 seed and has apparently put together a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude. Unless she's set on waiting for an SEC job, seems like she'd be a no-brainer to jump onto the short list.
