OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

It certainly looks to me like Diebs has the pieces. Better than prior? Unclear at this time. Now comes the task of stirring the drink, and blending the different components into a work of art. Another part of coaching at the D1 level, methinks. We're counting on you Diebs! Go Bucks!

Sights and Sounds: Key Ohio State prospects in action at Nike, adidas events

We have photos, videos and social media posts from last weekend's travel basketball action from the Nike EYBL in Indianapolis and adidas 3SSB in Bryan, Texas.

This was the only evaluation weekend in the spring for college coaches, so new Ohio State coach Jake Diebler and his staff fanned out to these events and others this past weekend to evaluate all of their top targets.

Introducing: Ohio’s Kameron Mercer considered among best in 2028 class

We share an interview with Cincinnati Winton Woods guard Kameron Mercer, who is regarded as one of the nation's top 2028 prospects.

Cincinnati native Kameron Mercer has been regarded as one of the nation's top basketball prospects in the 2028 class. Mercer, wrapping up his eighth grade year, figures to enroll at Cincinnati Winton Woods High School this fall.

The 6-4, 185-pound Mercer is playing up one level with the All-Ohio Red 15-U team. That team is led by Lima Senior 2027 guard Shawn Foster. Foster is considered one of Ohio's top three prospects for 2027. He is averaging just over 14 points per game in Nike EYBL 15-U play this spring going into this weekend's event in Kansas City.

Others on that team include Mansfield Christian guard Davion Mack, Pickerington Central wing Landon Evans, Cincinnati Winton Woods forward Jaylen Mercer (Kam Mercer's brother and also a football prospect), Garfield Heights forward Jamar Keyes, Columbus Walnut Ridge forward Deon Johnson, Lebanon guard Jashawn Coffey (2028), Cincinnati Indian Hill guard Rocco Disanto (2028) and Lima Senior guard Noah Simpson.

PrepHoops.com recently published its national top five for 2028 and had Mercer ranked No. 1 overall. Cincinnati is reportedly among the schools that have come in with an early offer. He boasted a 4.0 GPA in middle school.

Looking at Script's great article, cannot really see a need for another xfer. Could tOSU take one, certainly, but don't really see the need. Hate seeing that big fat 0 on the current recruiting cycle. Probably too early to see MBB commits, although other schools got them, but probably thinking that current crop of Ohioans waiting to see how well tOSU performs on the floor. Heck, looks like we could do well with an all-Ohio recruiting list for next year. Too many moving pieces for me....Go Bucks!
