WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Jim Tressel and OSU won't do that b/c it isn't truthful and isn't their style...

Just when you think that you (another school) are telling a recruit exactly what they want to hear, you are actually telling that recruit exactly what they needed to hear, to help them decide.

What I mean is that most of these kids are smart enough to read right through the BS that goes right along with recruiting these days. I mean it's developed itself into some sort of a circus almost. If a kid gets himself down to a handful of schools and is torn, he is going to get similar pitches from each school about why he should go there, with each school having its own strengths and weaknesses. If he gets caught up in the recruiting hype itself, then he will never be able to make a decision, because they are all promising things that can change later.

To get to my point, JT and staff are selling kids on the truth. The majority of these kids are starting to be able to realize that, and are reading right through the BS. "OK, another D1 coach making me the same promise, yet he's got kids on his team now that he hasn't delivered his promises to." JT won't make those promises unless they hold a certain value.

These kids are smart enough to get the car salesmen the hell out of here, and that's why you are going to see the quality of OSU's recruiting classes just go through the roof. He may have smaller classes but the kids he will get are gonna finish the job.

It's all about the honesty, baby, and JT oozes it. Very good thing to have.

I'm not ripping on any OSU players here, but can we cool it on the word great? Great should be reserved for the cream of the crop, or at least players that actually start, shouldn't it?

I think it's the Bob Davie "great football team" syndrome. It's hard to come up with adjectives for unproven but talented players aside from "promising" and so forth.

Haha yes they're all "promising". I just feel great should be used for players that are proven to be the best, that's all

That comment is what recruiters are going to be telling Terrelle, is what I meant I suppose

I don't know if Antonio will be great, but I can sure as hell guarantee you, that recuiters from all over the country are telling Terrelle that Henton will be a sophmore next year, and he has a lock on the position once Boeckman is gone

Compare two years of eligibility (Terrlle's junior and senior season assumming he redshirts frosh year) vs. 3-4 years at a school like WVU.......and I'd assume WVU is telling Terrelle they will find a way to get him on the field in some way his Frosh year even w/ Pat White their

did you notice Henton playing? I know onething for sure against him playing with the 1st teamers in a game. When he is in practices he's the scouting QB and you can take his playing one way or the other. Was he prepared or just thrown in for game testing.

And they've been doing it for a loooong time, with no success. Why would he suddenly start listening

I think you're greatly underestimating Pryor's confidence in his ability, and likewise overestimating his familiarity with some QB who doesn't play until garbage time.

Again, I completely understand what you are saying and agree Terrelle has OSU out front right now

but are you sure OSU just considers Antonio Henton some QB who is thrown out there during garbage time, or a serious QB option for the future

Henton has looked good in his mop-up time, and I'm sure coach Tressel feels like Antonio has the ability to lead this team if need be

I'm just saying, it's known that JT is offerring the possibility of PT after his Frosh year, and even then he has to earn it, versus a school that would absolutely use Terrelle in any way they could

WVU and OSU's depth charts aren't just similar in when Pryor would see the field. WVU has talent on the bench also.

You should relax.

So until that changes, why worry about the worst, let alone expect OSU to lose his recruitment battle?

Of course Henton's a serious option, I love his potential. Pryor isn't being promised anything but a great shot early on at a great program. I was merely doubting that Pryor is going to be scared off by a player whose best accomplishments will likely come in garbage time.

He's already admitted that he realizes the reality of redshirting when it comes to d1 QB recruits.

You keep speaking about vague thieves. Who is this hypothetical program? WVU is the most dangerous threat, and he has to wait there as well.

The sky is falling believers are always lurkin in dark corners near you.
If you look closely you can see the slight gleam off their eyeballs in the dark. Or maybe catch a furtive movement in the corner of your eye.

Florida and WVU both scare me....UF scares me as an SEC program that I know doesn't always live ethically and WVU that has Bob Huggins whispering to him about being the star of trhe bball team and Rich Rod whispering about being a star his frosh year in a way similar to noel devine.....nobody thought noel would see much action with slaton getting all the burn, but rodrigueuz fit him into the gameplan and I'm sure he'd find room for a guy like terrelle

If people want to say I'm part of the "the sky is falling" clan, that's fine...I don't see it that way myself...I love our program and the direction it is headed, what I don't like is the gimmicks and slimy recruiting tactics of outside schools. Plus I believe Terrelle, as well he should, believes he can make a difference in his freshman year as a bball player and football player at the right school

OSU is out front right now, and OSU will develop him into both a great bball and football player probably better than any other program in the country, I just hope Terrelle sees that

Pryor's dad will have to be moved to florida, away from his family, which is probably not ideal given his health. Pryor has made it clear he will play ball close enough to drive his pittsburgh father to and from games.

Pryor's clan is not fond of certain elements of the AAU scene, that doesn't help Huggins' chances. He can be a star of PSU's basketball team too... will either WVU or PSU be dancing late in March with consistency like OSU?

It seems you believe the sky will eventually be falling with pryor's recruitment.

I understand all of that about Terrelle's father, but we'll see if it makes a dramatic difference in the end...maybe Terrelle's father is willing to move, it isn't unheard of, and in many situations, the move is actually beneficial for everyone

Beyond the AAU scene, WVU has been a good program the last several years, and I'd think Bob isn't planning on destroying it

Again, as I keep re-stating to make sure people understand I'm not just trying to be the contrarian dickhead, I believe OSU offers the best package for Terrelle to be successful athletically in the future, I just also felt that same way for many other "silent verbals" in the past who had a change of mind due to different circumstances throughout the recruiting process

Hopefully Terrelle is all Scarlet and Grey when its done though
