WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Well I was wondering whether we would use him here or there as a WR or something of that nature. Like I said, what do I know? I was just curious when/how he's going to be used. (I realize that we are recruiting him as a QB, and that if he comes he here will play QB, but I was just wondering if while he's sitting in line he might play something else for a play or two.)
Maybe we will RS him, then use him in funky plays- like, when Florida had Tebow and Leak in on the same play.. do that with Pryor and Henton. Man, that's a scary backfield now that I think about it..

I've sort of been wondering, if he ends up at OSU, when would he end up being the starter? Assuming Boeckman starts this year, and next, Pryor would be a true sophomore when when he has his first shot at taking over the starting job. However, Henton will be a (RS) Jr, and Schoenhoft a (RS) Sr. It seems like it would be hard for a true sophomore to win that QB competition. (...and then if Henton gets the starting job in the 09 season, I don't see Pryor taking it away the following season from Henton.)

I know, my assumptions and projects may be off (and I expect them to be since I know Pryor is going to play QB at OSU) but when/how is he going to get the chance to?

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

I just have a strange feeling that Henton will end up more like Stanley Jackson than Troy Smith

I agree - not that I didn't like Stanley Jackson - I thought he was "good enough." Henton will need to prove to me he deserves the hype he's getting before I'll make a comparison to Troy Smith. And, because this is Pryor's thread, I'm going to add that he also needs to prove that he deserves any hype. Until then, as far as I'm concerned, one is a redshirt freshman, and the other is a prospect.

I don't know if that's completely fair. There's nothing wrong with hyping up a prospect, as long as it's done right.

1. I'll bet you that Henton's freshman year is more productive than Troy's. Any takers on that bet??? Let's not forget that Troy wasn't even an after-thought during Krenzel's and McMullen's last year here. And, if there was ANY talk about the third string QB, it was always centered around Justin-time... remember?
2. Pryor's hype is definitely being kept "under control" to this point. No one is getting too inflated about the Buckeyes winning NC after NC with TP under center. And, hype is part of recruiting... especially for the fans. And given that point, I'd say that Pryor IS proving that he deserves the hype he is receiving.

yes, of course! This thread is already 80 pages long to keep the hype and NC dreams under control.

No one is talking about him winning the Heisman or leading teams to championships though... just about whether or not he will end up in Columbus. If he ends up in Columbus, it might be a different story.

Agreed. At this point I say he only wins 2 Heismans but I could bump that to 3 if/when he signs the LOI. :wink2:

Exactly! And it's not like I'm claiming he'll win us any more than 5 or 6 National Championships. It's all about keeping the hype under control...

Jeannette's Pryor hopes to thrive with all eyes on him this fall
By Paul Schofield
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Sunday, August 26, 2007

Terrelle Pryor picked up a golf club one day this summer and took a mighty swing at a ball sitting on a tee. The ball sailed through the air and landed past the 175-yard marker.
"That was with a 7-iron; I killed it," Pryor said.

Pryor is one of those rare athletes who can do almost anything and do it well. He was also an excellent baseball player when he was younger and is one of the top two-sport high school athletes (football and basketball) in the country.

College coaches in both sports are eager to acquire his services, and Pryor has talked about playing both in college.
The Jeannette senior is ranked No. 1 nationally in football by many scouting services and is a top-30 basketball player. This past year, some of the best college football coaches in the country have visited Pryor.

Pryor has trimmed his final choices to 12: Ohio State, Texas, Florida, Southern Cal, Alabama, West Virginia, Penn State, Tennessee, Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and Michigan State. Still, he knows other schools will try to recruit him.

Pryor has yet to announce which five schools he will visit, and he is mum on his favorites. He has everyone guessing, and he said he won't reveal his choice until the Feb. 6 letter-of-intent signing date.

Pryor and his teammates have worked hard in the offseason, trying to get bigger, stronger and faster. Pryor recently benched more than 300 pounds and was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.35 seconds, he said.
