The staff offered a scholarship on Saturday afternoon to San Marcos, California, Mission Hills three-star wide receiver Chris Olave.

The 6-foot, 160-pound Olave is considered the 217th-best wide receiver and No. 1,462 prospect overall in the Class of 2018, but it's clear he's ranked too low after missing his entire junior season because he transferred high schools. He's made up for it this season, though, as he's recorded 33 catches for 818 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Olave — who also holds nearly a dozen other offers from programs such as Arizona State, Boise State, BYU, San Diego State, Utah and Washington State — has been talking with Ohio State quarterbacks coach Ryan Day for about a month, which led to the offer from the Buckeyes.

I believe it. Been trending that way for a couple of weeks now since OSU has seemingly gotten interested in bringing in more members to this class than I originally anticipated. Once the official was set, the liklihood of getting a commitment went up tremendously.

im with it, the kid is as smooth of a wide receiver as the Buckeyes have had in a while.

He reminds me of Devin Smith in his stature and stride... Also a track guy similar to Devin who much like Devin does the jumping events.

Would be excited to have him!

Too bad he came up in discussion so late, his school is only about a 15-20 minute drive from me. Can't really remember who the last player out of San Diego area to play for the Buckeyes would be.
