WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion)

Auburn's Chris Davis national SI cover, but Braxton will appear on a regional version around B1G country.

I don't think he is really holding on to the ball very well. This makes people on the number one defense salivate

Leader develops a following
Although many see the necessary qualities in Braxton Miller, such as competitiveness and playmaking ability, the ultimate validation for him would come from winning a championship

By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Friday December 6, 2013

  • Braxton Miller and Ohio State are streaking, no doubt.

Headed into the Big Ten championship game tonight against Michigan State, the Buckeyes have won 24 straight games, extending a school record, with Miller starting 22 of those. They’ve beaten Michigan two straight times, they’ve taken the Leaders Division title for a second straight year, and Miller this week became the first to be named Big Ten offensive player of the year two years in a row since the award was established in 1990.

So yes, Miller and the Buckeyes are on a run. But teams and quarterbacks ultimately make the leap to greatness based on championships won. With Ohio State on the cusp of a league crown and spot in the final Bowl Championship Series national title game on Jan. 6 — if it can knock off the Spartans — the question is whether Miller has what it takes to lead the Buckeyes through the tape.

“The answer is yes,” said offensive coordinator Tom Herman, who has tutored the junior quarterback the past 23 months. “I think Braxton has the qualities and the traits it would take to win a championship.”

If Brax is holding the crystal trophy at the end of the year I have a hard time seeing him come back. With his young child/family situation it might be a strong pull to move on to the next phase of his life. If that series of events plays out I am more than fine with it. Of course, if Peyton Manning needed his senior year then I certainly think Brax does. With the competition he will face among other QBs this draft along with his need for more improvement it seems like a great decision for him to come back but winning a NC and moving on with life might be a strong pull.
If He holds the trophy its time to move on and for tOSU to start a NEW Memory with JT and Cardale. Begin a new journey.

Braxton has to seriously consider moving on. with Mariotta coming back he would be the 3rd or 4th qb taken, likely end of 2nd round. He has a lot to gain by coming back, technique and reading defenses.

That's your takeaway from last night's game?

I love Braxton, but he was a liability passing the ball the last few weeks:

38 comp / 82 att / 46.3 comp. pct.
Those are sub-Reggie Ball passing stats, and more than half of those attempts came against Illinois and Indiana.

I'm going to be unequivocal about this - he is not a pro QB right now and it would be a mistake for him to enter the draft. He faced a secondary with two NFL CBs last night and other than one great throw to Philly Brown for a TD he didn't do squat as a passer.

Furthermore, when he gets in trouble he has very strong Rex Grossman tendencies. It has paid off big in many instances, but the "eff it, I'm going deep" approach is not sustainable and the percentages have caught up with him.
