Who Are Your Top Players for 2008? (merged)

I figured there should probably be a general thread on 2008 topics so that individual prospect threads don't get clogged with talk of other prospects. As my contribution, I'll add my Ohio top 25 list (note that these are mostly last year's heights and weights):
  1. John Adams 5-11 170 CB/WR Akron Buchtel

  5. Nathan Williams 6-4 235 DE/LB Washington Court House Miami Trace
  6. DeVoe Torrance 6-2 215 LB Canton South
  7. Shawdell Rowell 6-4 340 OG/DT Cleveland Glenville
  8. Brandon Beachum 6-1 210 LB/TB Youngstown Cardinal Mooney

Couple of thoughts

1-I will see Brandon Moore play in a scrimmage on Friday. I will post my thoughts on him.

2-Good to see a lot of DL and OL talent. I wonder if Rowell will get an offer as an OL if the staff thinks he is too big for DT. Williams and Maynard are from schools where an OSU offer is almost a sure commit:) .

3-The # of stud LBs is sick.

I see you have no QB's on that list(Atleast from a quick glance at the list).

Marvin Stewart(Yes from my school) is going to be a good one. At the end of his sophomore season he was getting recruited by Iowa, Penn State, Colorado, among many other schools.

EDIT: Nevermind didn't see that QB/ATH from Rayen.

Battles will be recruited mostly as a RB by the big time schools.

Can you give me some info on Chad Maynard? I live in Lancaster and follow the Gales, but haven't heard anything particularly glowing about him (do you know if he was varsity last year?)...can't seem to find anything online either. For what its worth, I believe his sister is (probably was by now actually) a Pitcher for the VaTech softball squad, so there is some athetic history in the family...

I guess there's still some time before the recruitment for the class of 08 starts to heat up though

Based purely on talent, Ashley would be a top 10 player, but this is a college prospect thread, and Ashley's size will hurt his recruitment. Maynard started as a sophomore and, I believe, as a freshman. He's a plugger DT, which is probably why he doesn't get much attention. That and unlike most teams, Lancaster has been loaded with big kids, so Maynard doesn't stand out as much physically.

Thanks...the name was familiar, I just haven't noticed his play, this fall I'll have to wear my glasses on Friday nights :)...

Edit: Just checked a Lancaster thread on JJHuddle, and AUenrules (who is generally dead on with respect to Lancaster sports) said Maynard is over 300lbs and will be playing both ways as an OT/DT...it'll be nice to see where he is best,
In other news, Lancaster's running game is going to run al over people next year :)
