QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Official Thread)

I wonder what Brown can do for us?

So which came first? This kid committed because of Ewers, or Ewers is leaving because of this kid?

I have a hard time believing that the staff didn't have a hint this was in the works.

No inside knowledge, but 99.9% sure if Quinn left because of other QBs, those QBs were Stroud and McCord. Brown essentially got Ewers' spot if you think of the reclassification. I do think we probably were taking Brown regardless, but perhaps Brown got the drift that Ewers was leaving and that's what triggered his commitment. In any event, happy to have Brown on board.

Q: He recently posted on Twitter that his truck was covered in snow and he'll be driving in it for the first time. Obviously, he'll be heading to the Midwest and it's a little colder there than what he's used to in Arizona. Have you talked about that with him at all?

Germaine: Yeah, that was part of the thing I loved most about being in Columbus. I loved the weather difference compared to what I grew up with in Arizona. I think it'll be the same for him. I think the experience he had of going to Utah this previous year is good for him, it's almost like a prep period of getting somewhat closer to what it might be like up there.

"He’s a guy who’s got all the talent you're looking for at the position," said 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, "A strong arm, accurate passer who can make things happen to all levels of the field.
"In addition, he's got a moxie, a confidence, to him. He embraces the stage that Ohio State plays on and the competition that's in the quarterback room. He’s got the mentality that you need to play at a place like Ohio State where there's so much scrutiny."
Brown's stock rose after a strong performance at the Elite 11 competition earlier this year, which included Ewers.
"He was arguably the best guy there," Wiltfong said of Brown.

IMHO with Miller, Ewers and LaRoe (sp?) leaving this was the most important pick-up looking down the road. Brown is going to be special at the most important position in sports.

Basically (when all is said and done) getting Brown in place of Ewers could be a win-win-win for all 3 parties involved, i.e. Ohio State, Ewers, and Texas.

Coach Day had a lot of great stuff to say about Devin at his press conference

One thing that stood out to me is that Day said Devin didn't care who was in that quarterback room. He just wanted to be a part of that room and compete. How could you not love that?

I think Ohio State and Devin are a perfect fit. Really excited to have him in S&G
