Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

This.

Hindsight being 20/20 and all, right? And there's no way to anticipate the level of fall out, but just as a matter of good practice, "No comment, I'm not prepared to discuss these details, and I don't want to misspeak" is always an appropriate response. Fuck, I don't care if the question is, "do you think it's going to rain today?" It should be made clear to everyone who has a mic in front of them that it is not only an acceptable response, but in many cases preferred.

"I have never been criticized for what I never said." Calvin Coolidge. POTUS, 1923-29. :urban2: :oh:

The problem isn't his statements and trying to point out the mediots aren't reporting the actual findings of the committee.

The problem is I think he's trying to convince the morons out in cyberspace and fans of opposing teams. That's never going to happen and it doesn't matter if he was fully exonerated or not.

Just put on the cape and lay waste to everyone in 3 weeks coach. Fuck 'em all.

I have never seen a more amateur PR department than what OSU has/uses. And that's not being message board critical, that's being dead serious. It's an absolute embarrassment the way they manage situations.

Why do you think this is the university directing him to put this out? This seems like Urban obsessed with protecting Urban's reputation and legacy. It so utterly serves the university no purpose that I can't fathom they'd have a hand in it.

I'm not saying that, actually just the opposite. They should have had control of this from the beginning, instead of giving off the impression they have of the situation. Urban resorted to this unfortunately. Either they don't stand by him, or are completely incompetent. And quite possibly both.

Or they've counseled him to go dark and let this ride out until the suspension is over but simply can't control him at this point. As much as it might grind their gears, they're not going to fire him over these tweets, yet they also have no obligation to wade into the storm of his choosing by his side.

It's clear Urban had a majority of trustees against firing at the meeting. After the press conference and the tweets, I'm not so sure the result would be the same now.
