Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Meyer's retirement from Ohio State was due in part to health concerns surrounding an enlarged arachnoid cyst in his brain, which often caused severe headaches during games.

Ending talks sounds like they actually began. I don’t believe they ever began, except in a one-sided inquiry from folks in Texas.

But Urban needed to make a statement to stop the nonsense.

I like the theory that he played them to eff with Herman. Likely didn’t happen, but I’ll let myself think it did for the lulz at Surly Horn, et. al.’s expense.

I don't believe talks were ever serious, but I also think if I'm Urban I at least want to hear what they offer. Even if I have no intention of taking it. I see it more like:

Texas: Urban, you up?

Urban: I'll take a call.

Texas: Here's our offer, you interested?

Urban: Thanks, but no thanks.

Urban: send me 20lbs of brisket and all the side dishes and I'll get back to you.

Urban: Thanks for the food but I'm going to have to pass...

Pretty much how I see it having went. They put out feelers, he "respectfully" gives it a short consideration to "think and talk it over with the wife/family," and then comes back and "respectfully declines." All while probably laughing inside and to anyone around the house.

If Barton's number was anywhere close ($84MM) he seriously listened at least.

I don't care what other factors are at play, you at least listen when people are offering you that kind of money.
And if the reason is because he loves Ohio State.......man, I dunno. I know he's got a lot of money already, but you are still allowed to love Ohio State from Texas. A good handful of 5 star kids certainly do.
