Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Urban Meyer may have his next job lined up. According to the New York Post's Andrew Marchand, FOX could be interested in bringing back Meyer to its Big Noon Kickoff show. Meyer was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday.

"Fox will have interest in returning (Meyer) to its ‘Big Noon Kickoff’ show, according to sources,” Marchand wrote. “He was on it for two years before leaving for Jacksonville. Big Noon has made an impact, but ESPN’s “College GameDay” still is by far the leader as it averaged nearly 1.9 million viewers across its three hours each Saturday.”

That’s would be awesome. Urb killed it on that show.

I said back when he took the job that he was going to have a really tough go of it in the NFL. Urban seems like a guy that hates losing even more than he loves winning. In CFB, a BAD year for the programs he coached consisted of 3 losses. He never lost more than 2 in his 7 years in Columbus. Hell, he looked like a Zombie after losing 2 in 2013. A "good" NFL team goes 10-6 (or 10-7 in today's world). That's 6-7 losses in one season. In a typical year, only 2-4 teams across the entire league lose 3 games or less. He took a job with one of the absolute worst franchises in professional sports. The culture was terrible. The roster was barren. He wasn't walking into a situation where a talented roster was in place that just needed to be "coached up." They were weak across the board. In a perfect world, he was looking at 2-3 years before they were a competitive team. Add in dealing with the egos of 40+ multi-millionaires each season and the scrutiny that was on him from day 1 and it was a toxic stew that left him zero margin for error. I honestly thought it was 50/50 at best that he made it past 1 season.

I hope he really just takes some time off to try to repair whatever damage has been done to both himself and his family. Really, I hope he's done coaching. Urban burns too hot and already has underlying health issues. That's not a recipe for a man to live into his golden years.

agreed
Meyer seems to be the single biggest lightning rod in the coaching ranks that I have EVER seen.

i didn’t like him personally and have heard from a lot of his detractors around the program. But nearly all believed he was a great coach and loved the Ohio State aura.

Not defending him, but it's really weird that he would just up and kick a player....isn't it?

I'm sure his lawyers will say his brain was broke, but I think it was just a case of an egomaniac control freak losing his shit after months of things spiraling out of his control. I figure Kahn wanted him gone, and this just presented the opportunity to do it and keep the 40M.

Yes….I figure Khan has been looking for a cause for several weeks and……eureka!

Report: Most Jaguars Players Were 'Just Fine' with Urban Meyer Before Firing

Per Hallie Grossman and Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, one source close to the team said that most players "felt just fine" about Meyer.

"He hadn't, at least by the last weekend before his dismissal, lost the locker room, the source said," Grossman and DiRocco wrote.
