Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

What Meyer's interview does is to allow him to say, I think I've said about everything that is appropriate for me to say about this matter.

Steve's right. It will come up when he returns, and it allows him to say, "I've already sat down and addressed my handling of the situation at length recently. And my apology still stands. Every situation, good or bad, is a learning experience, and I will be better at my job going forward because of this. But look - I'm the Head Football Coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and I have an obligation to all of the young men who play for me to focus on them - on making them the best athletes and people that they can be. So I am moving forward, with the focus on them. As it should be. All I can do now is to sincerely wish everyone involved the very best going forward. Shelley and I both earnestly hope this.

With all due respect -and I know you won't like this - but that is the last question I'm going to take on that topic. Ask me about this week's game.
"

Or some variant. You know they are going to be all over him. That was not a bad strategy - to give an early post-suspension interview that can be said to be responsive, all while allowing him to craft his talking points and put closure on the the subject. I think it was a smart PR move. Which has not been - ya know - the norm in Columbus recently.

Urban Meyer Breaks His Silence On Zach Smith Allegations

Entire article: https://theozone.net/2018/09/urban-meyer-breaks-silence-zach-smith-suspension/

Urban has a right to do the interview. Reporters are going to ask about it anyway. I'm sure he wants to be "up front" and "I have nothing to hide too"; and get those questions out of the way. I probably wouldn't have done it with ESPN; however, I guess, it's possible that he and Rinaldi were buddies though.

Rinaldi sure didn't seem like his "buddy." Dude was very accusatory in his line of questioning.

Zach Smith's criminal trespass hearing was scheduled for this past Friday. I've searched but haven't found anything about the proceedings. Did anyone in the media send someone to cover that? Wouldn't that have been open to the public?

Maybe the prosecution got it rescheduled to the day before the TCU game specifically because they knew all eyes would be pointing toward Arlington, TX.
