Still tho... you have to think Alford isn't looking too favorable to Day. He basically struck out on who Day wanted and now he's tapping his arm to bring in Hart.

Not a good look and to be honest I don't blame Ryan. Alford is the weak link in the recruiting aspect of the staff. Especially when you consider what we should have as an easy sell.

No he is not. This narrative is trash.

what’s more important ot the program long term... 2020 5* back that the chances wouldn’t even be on the board in vegas, or multiple 2021 backs ... sometimes awesome recruiters can’t overcome things.. Remember Antuawn Jackson the first recruitment.. LJSr swung and missed on a LOT of guys... but yet we turned out fine... bashing Alford is kinda annoying at this point . Day wants him on the staff so he’s probably pretty good at his job.
Uh... LJ has landed multiple 5 stars and lots of others. Alford is no where near LJ.

Ok so go ahead I'll wait while you point out who may be our bottom performer when it comes to recruiting. We had JK running wild all year and everyone knew he was going pro and yet we still don't land options 1-4.

I’m not going to get into a thing where it comes off as bashing a coach, but there’s coaches on the staff that you don’t even hear about when it comes to recruiting. The hyperbole is tired and only because a couple guys, who actually committed to Tony by the way, chose to go elsewhere at the last minute at the urging of their families.

Is it bashing if it's true?

Hartline got kids from WA, TX, MO, and PA. All either 5 stars or borderline 5 star.

No offense but the "hyperbole" is pretty on the mark. Yes he's got a couple good kids but for what TOSU has produced the past 5 years kids should be lining up to play here.

Anyways back to Evans... if there's trouble with him then pass.

Im not saying Alford is a bad coach in fact I love him teaching our backs and the relationship he has with them once they are here...but honestly who has he recruited, everyone gives Urban the credit for Zeke and Alford wasn't here yet i don't think. Weber was a tricky one, and Dobbins committed out of no where, Williams and Snead unfortunately no longer here so that leaves I guess Crowley Chambers and Teague. Im not one to say he should be on the chopping block, I just never have had expectation of him being an all world recruiter

That's where I'm at.. I know it's being greedy considering how well we recruit overall, but with how well tOSU backs typically do he should be closing on our main target at least occasionally. He wasn't here for Zeke or Weber, but does get credit for JK "ALL DAY". I think his coaching is good but Alford needs to step up in recruiting because we shouldn't swing and miss on our top 4-5 kids.

I think that is a very fair assessment. With the success we've had at the position, the recruiting should be better. And as you pointed out, it seems Alford coaches up the guys in the room well, but just is lacking in recruiting. Evans is not an option I wouldn't think, but landing Gibbs would go a long way in reversing my thinking. Anyways, good luck to Evans wherever he ends up.

I have full faith that Coach Day and the entire staff would not take him if they feel like he’s an issue. I would think that they would have some sort of program and mentorship set up for Evans if he were to come to Ohio State.
I figured that mentor ship would be an upperclassmen telling him to shut the hell up...
But in all honesty, I’m sure if Day brings him to test the waters, he and Alford sit him down and tell him he has one chance and he’s gone. It’s actually a low risk high reward for OSU
