QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

Very interesting concept, I see the pros and cons everyone stated but you have to think he would come in knowing he's probably not starting right away. But learning the system and an early start to his development would be mutually beneficial to both parties. However, I do worry the risk of a transfer increases with an extra year on campus. I've gone on record in saying that Quinn is the most talented HS QB I've ever watched on film, so I would not count him out of anything. But if one of our QBs (guessing Stroud to start) lights it up this season like we think, they've still got at least one more year here and I think it would be very tough for anyone to beat out an established starter with a track record. I strongly suspect that's what happened with Burrow... he gets injured, Dwayne lights it up, and then you can't consider switching it up when you've got a guy in rhythm and firing on all cylinders.

All that said, if Quinn wants to show up early and get a head start, I'm all about it. The staff will figure it out.

Besides, if we have to add a QB in the transfer portal we have a good track record of that.

Just sayin':

a) Almost everyone else in college will be at least 1 year older than you, most 3, 4, or 5 years. Do you really want to miss your senior year of high school?

b) (Unless you can win the starting job in 2021) you'll probably make more NIL money for the seasons 2022 - 2025, than you would for seasons 2021 - 2024; since you'll undoubtedly be starting an additional year.
He's already 18. Which makes him the age of the average college freshman.

Leaves an opening for a ‘22 QB…perhaps Ohio QB Allar. It would be hilarious to see PSU reaction if that’s how it unfolded.

I was 16 when I started my Senior year in high school; 17 when I started my Freshman year at Ohio State.

He will get better training and coaching at OSU, so I do get wanting to be paid while having that. No starting reps, but plenty of practice against the best.

If he and his family believe that he will get better development/coaching/training at Ohio State than at his high school he might as well enroll this fall.

Hell anything can happen, Trevor Lawrence won a National Championship at Clemson as true Freshman.

Do we have an available scholarship?

Before we get into that, we have to figure out whether this even makes financial sense for Ewers, who is closing in on 83,000 Instagram followers and 23,000 Twitter followers. In short, it does.

“Right now, according to our numbers, if he were a Division I athlete, he would be the 25th-most-marketable player right now,” said Blake Lawrence, the CEO of Opendorse, a company that specializes in athlete marketing, endorsements and NIL rights. “That’s based off the size of his audience, the engagement of his audience. His post value, or what he’d get from one Instagram post, is about $25,000. Twitter is another $500 per post. If he could line up 10 to 15 sponsor deals, he could see his way to a half a million or a million dollars a year in just social media.”

Keep in mind, that’s where Ewers is right now as a prospect heading into his senior high school season. If he were to enroll at Ohio State as soon as this fall, his profile would continue to expand. When he gets on the field — whenever that might be — it will get even bigger. This is a baseline value of a high school prospect in suburban Dallas who has yet to arrive on his future college campus, so his earning potential will be far greater once he establishes himself in his new community.

You can complete a high school English class online in less than a week?......:welcome: Doesn't say much for Texas high school academics....OH WELL, welcome to Ohio State Quinn...

Online courses today just replace the old 64 page correspondence course workbooks that have always existed. Smart kids that dedicate a whole day to it can knock out a credit in a day. Could probably do two a day now because it’d be a lot faster to type essay answers today versus writing them out on loose leaf paper.

Just askin': (If Quinn Evers does enroll at Ohio State this year) when was the last time any school got two 5 star QBs in the same recruiting class?
