Has anybody found a way to make Twitter useful in any meaningful way (as opposed to simply "cool")? Lots of people I am associated with are starting to encourage its use, but darned if I can figure out how it is going to be anything but a time waster.

It's good for those people that like to constantly keep you up to date with their lives...like having a new facebook status every 4 hours. So... I haven't found it too useful. There are some people that are entertaining... like Shaq for example. If you add him to your twitter feeds, he writes some pretty funny [censored].

Yes, many media outlets (nytimes, cnn, boston.com) are on Twitter, so I often go there first when there's breaking news.

Also, I'm a geek, so I subscribe to a bunch of tech gurus' feeds.

Plus, HotAmishChick is hysterical. :)

I don't even give a shit what my own wife did at her job every three or four hours or so, and I genuinely love her. I cannot fathom even wanting to get random updates from strangers on the Internet.
