ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

I watched much of the Syracuse game, and I've said it was like watching a race between a tortoise and a snail - neither of those teams played well enough to deserve to win. UM just deserved to win even less than Syracuse. The UTEP loss was an awful performance by UM - 2 of 14 on 3s, the first half, and apparently the halftime adjustments did not work as they went without a field goal for the first 13 minutes of the second half. I can't blame Manny Harris for getting out of there a year early and not having to suffer through another season filled with disappointing losses. I think Beilein's style could be effective at UM - surely, it was effective at WVU - but he just doesn't have good 3-point shooters now. But why is it that, in Year 4, he still doesn't have the quality 3-point shooters he needs to make his system effective?

I remember a few years ago, smug Michigan fans were snickering at WVU, strutting about over the Wolverines' "stealing" two "coveted coaches" from the 'Eers.

Right now, that's looking a lot like people stealing gift-wrapped garbage out of cars in Manhattan during the garbage workers' strike.

UM hits the road in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, playing at Clemson. The outcome is a foregone conclusion. UM will lose. They have not won a true nonconference road game since December 7, 2006 when they defeated Miami (OH), aka when Tommy Amaker was still their coach. There's no good reason to think the trend will change.

Amazing how Beilein has failed to win a single nonconference road game since he's been at AA, yet he's getting a vote of confidence from the AD.

He and rr have also gotten the important vote of confidence from the tOSU fanbase.

On another note, I won't question your info on scUM winning away from home, but they do play way above expectations sometimes, wasn't it UConn they beat a few years ago? I don't know what Clemson has this year, but in the past, they are sometimes athletic, but undisciplined.

Maybe scUM and their pitiful, unathletic squad can make an astronomical percentage of their threes tonight and pull one out against the Tigers, if they play poorly and undisciplined, yeah right, we need one though, after the Gophers spitting the bit last night :smash:
