To the Browns fans who want Bush...

OilerBuck

Sweet Crude
There's still a shot. I don't really want the first pick and I think we should fill a lot of other holes first...but if you other Cleveland fans want Reggie, here's what needs to happen (I've only considered records and the head-to-head tiebreakers):

1. The Browns have to lose out (@Oakland, Pittsburgh, Baltimore)
2. The Texans need to win out (Arizona, Jacksonville and @ San Fran)
3. The Niners need to win @Jacksonville and @St. Louis.
4. The Jets need to win two out of three (@Miami, New England, Buffalo)
5. Green Bay has to win two out of three (@Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle)
6. The Saints must win one out of four (Atlanta, Carolina, Detroit, @Tampa)
7. Buffalo must win one out of three (Denver, @Cincy, @NYJ)
8. Tennessee must win one out of three (San Diego, @Miami, @Jacksonville)
9. Arizona must beat either Philidelphia or win @Indianapolis.

I think the Texans will be looking to trade if they have the #1, because they need the Tackle from Virginia or wherever he is from. Arguably, they have only 3 good players, and 2 of them are a QB and their RB, so they'll be looking to trade. It will cost A LOT to trade up though.

Since you mention D'Brickashaw...

If we're going to take Offense... I'll take him... Shelton is terrible.

Meanwhile... We need to look hard at D... nearly every position could be upgraded depending on what happens with FA's.

So, in other words, fxcking impossible. The Browns need to either upgrade on the offensive line or look at defense. Other than CB (as long as Baxter gets healthy for next year), there is an immediate need at every position on defense.

I agree.
We have some talent on offense.
I like Frye alot so far.
I want Hawk.
But I would also love to see a shut-down corner, or a big time safety drafted.
Maybe some linemen too...

the browns drafted pool last year, they wont be taking a safety. Cleveland needs front 7 help in the worst way.

offensively, unless they are taking a LT, there is absolutely no reason to take an offensive player in the first round.

Houston would be smart to trade down their pick to get D'Brickashaw because they badly need a stud O-lineman, and also with Bush's value they would be sure to get additional picks / players. One thing they could do is draft D'Brickashaw (Fergeuson- spelling?) and then use the value of the #1 to get a few additional good linemen to rebuild their O-line.

Or if they believe that Bush is just that spectacular, they might just draft him because of his sky-high potential. You don't want to be the team that turns down a great player, because if he does turn out to have success in the NFL like he does in college, theres nothing that can replace that. With Free Agency nowadays, their O-line could be fixed partially with a few smart moves.

Lets see if the Browns listen to me this year:

Get 2 of Hawk, Carp, or Kudla to be the OLB's (Davis, Thompson, and Ruff are ok at ILB) I would take all 3 as long as one of them can play inside and Kudla was available in the 4th round
Get Sims in the 5th or 6th round to be a backup G/T
Get Salley in the 5th or 6th round to be a backup S
Get Huston in the 7th round if he's available
Sign Everett as a FA
If Whitner or Youbouty go draft one of them in the 3rd round.

If the Browns could somehow get Hawk and Carpenter with their first 2 picks I would go nuts.

interior d lineman

Steele, agreed on your point on LT and Shelton. Depending on what free agents they sign with all the cap money I think drafting a stud, run stuffing nose man is a good strategy. Not sure who is availble though...DT from Oregon?
Watched Packers game last night and that guy they have, Jackson?, was outstanding at the goal line stand.

I don't know if you can get a stud run stuffing NT in the draft. I think it takes a few years in the NFL to develop that ability. A NT will have to come as a FA IMO. That will be the Browns biggest FA addition this off season if they can get one.
