Not to get too sided tracked here, but I believe the thing with Elliot’s recruitment was that Ohio State basically passed on Derrick Green, who was the #1 RB at the time to, to take Elliot.

IIRC some people questioned the move at the time, although I think Elliot was also a top 100 guy and it obviously turned out to be a great evaluation and decision.

My memory is hazy too; how did Green's career turn out?

I really like his film, he and Alston from GA are my 2 top picks at RB(not that it means much). Both around the same size, and offer speed and power. I think Hayden being from Memphis may help us in the fight with Tennessee. Though UT is the state school, it's not heavily favored in Memphis. Now if he were from say Nashville, I'd think we'd have a harder time pulling him out of the state. But I think Alford and Day can pull him, UT being his parents alma mater may make things interesting for a little, but I can see ND being a tougher battle for a kid from a Parochial HS.

Those in-person interactions remain critical for both running backs.

“Just finally being able to meet the coaches face-to-face (is huge for me). It’s just so much more different than through a Zoom call, meeting them face-to-face,” Hayden said. “Just so it’s not all phone calls and Zooms and FaceTimes. I just know face-to-face will be better – not only for me, but me and my family to get to meet the coaches and get a better feeling for, ‘Can I see myself playing for this man? Or, are these the type of guys I feel like I’ll be happy playing for and being around?’ Those coaches (at Ohio State, Notre Dame and Illinois) are the ones who feel the most for real.”
