  • Going to see them tonight in Honolulu, the second of two sold-out shows. Got my tickets Friday night (although it was claimed be sold out), and am only eight rows from the stage. I'm fucking stoked.

Anyone else seen them in concert recently?

Enjoy the show. They played in Cleveland at the beginning of this tour. I heard they were not that tight with their performance. Let's hope by now they are back to their old form, at least as close as they can get decades later.

I saw them several months ago in Houston. I came in thinking the band was just trying to milk some dollars that they let slip away in the 80's, due to the break-up. However, I still expected they would put on a good show, because I think they are talented enough to get away with just going through the motions. After the show, I still think this is at least partially true but I was somewhat pleasantly surprised.

They sounded great. None of the guys have lost much in the last 25 years in terms of skill. I was the most impressed with drummer Stewert Copeland. He showed the most energy of three and genuinely seemed to enjoy himself. The set list had all the favorites plus 1 or 2 album tracks, that were a nice surprise. They reworked a few songs and most of them came off well. All in all, it was worth the inflated ticket price.

Just got back and my ears are still ringing. The concert more than met my expectations. They had no backup musicians, just they three. For a three-man group, they sounded very good. Speaking of a good three-man group, the group that opened for them (Fictionplane, whose lead singer I heard is Sting's son) really kicked ass. As soon as I find my damn USB cable, I'll upload the photos to my computer and if any are decent I'll post them here. Picked up a T-shirt for each of my two daughters and also a couple for myself...I think I dropped well over $400 between the ticket, shirts, a Fictionplane CD, etc., but it was worth it. I was no more than 100 feet from the band, if that...great seats and a great view.

What was the crowd like? All old fogies or are there some younger kids clued in?
Filled to capacity. Had the full range of ages...I saw folks that had to be at least in their mid-60s all the way down to small groups of teens.
