The Big Unit to The Big Apple

sears3820

Sitting around in my underwear....
Sources say that the New York Yankees will acquire RJ (should be next week) in exchange for starting pitcher Javier Vazquez, third-base prospect Eric Duncan, $4M per year, plus a "yet-to-be-determined part, either a new pitcher the Yankees acquire or, less likely, set-up man Tom Gordon."

This deal won't happen for the next couple months. As of right now, 'Red Sox West' wants a fantasy land deal:

Vazquez, Halsey, Duncan, Gordon, AND they want the Yanks to trade for either Hudson, Mulder, Zito, Kasmir, or a list of six other elite pitchers for the Big Unit.

Now that will never EVER happen. If the Yanks could trade for Hudson, et al. why the heck would they in turn ship him to the Boston Diamondbacks???

The Sux should ship that sham of a ring to Colangelo, Garagiola, and everyone in that organizarion that's helped them gang up on one team. What a joke, You talk about "bad for baseball" and this is Exhibit C. (I won't get into Exhibits A & B as not to get Sears extremely pissed off at me).

sears3820: "You're entitled to your opinion Sloopy even as misguided as it may be...."

My main beef is that I have to sift through all this "Yankees are bad for baseball" crap, and I don't hear a peep when the Yanks get intentionally blackballed by these teams and their best players shipped to Boston for a bag of balls.

Now THAT's bad for baseball. Why don't we just have John Henry own the Red Sox AND the Diamondbacks so he can just reassign Arizona's best players to Boston without having to put up with the trouble of farce trades and collusion?

Sloops, relax bro, we all know that the Yankees will get theirs. Steinbrenner will see to it, I think we all agree here. That being said, you cannot buy team chemistry, the Yankees are finding that out over the past few seasons.

daddyphatsacs: "Sloops, relax bro, we all know that the Yankees will get theirs."

Not too sure about that, my brotha. The medicine to cure the Yanks' ills is Star Quality Lefthanded Pitching, and it doesn't look like that's happening. Jaret Wright? Please. He's a burned out AL pitcher who found the fountain of youth pitching against Triple A line-ups in the NL. No matter who they're looking to acquire, it all looks like a Band-Aid on a much bigger injury.

The two biggest acquisitions the Yanks could make are: a.) Randy Johnson, and b.) B.J. Ryan. The Orioles won't give up Ryan, and we'll see about RJ. Any other acquisition won't make the '05 Yanks any different from the '04 Yanks.

Nutty: "What about a healthy Jason Giambi??"

I really have my doubts that Giambi will be on the team next year. He is getting BARBECUED by the Press here lately. I don't know if he (or Kevin Brown, for that matter) can ever step on the field in New York again.

T-Bone: "Hilarious...a Yankees fan has the gall to say that somebody else getting better is "bad for baseball". Spare us your pathetic whining"

I never said someone else getting better is "bad for baseball," I said when Team A holds star player back from Team B, and ships star player to Team C with the express purpose of ganging up on Team B, that is (quote, unquote) "Bad for Baseball." I mean, what is this? The turn of the Century Cleveland Spiders???

The Expos held Pedro Martinez back, the D-Backs held Schilling back, and Arizona is doing it again with Johnson. All three trades were made to blackball the New York Yankees. That is horrible for baseball.
