The Basketball Tournament (Carmen's Crew = 2019 Champions)

After leaving Ohio State following his junior season to pursue a professional career, Wesson spent time with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League last year where he averaged 11.7 points and 9.91 rebounds a game.

Wesson signed with Filou Oostende of the Belgian League back in April.

Carmen's Crew does not yet have a complete roster, but William Buford, David Lighty, Jon Diebler and Evan Ravenel have already committed to this year's tournament while Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner will continue to serve as the team’s general manager/head coach and assistant coach, respectively.

While the TBT bracket will not be officially announced until June 21, it is likely Zip ‘Em Up will be playing in the Columbus region at the Covelli Center. Games in Columbus will tip-off on July 23 and wrap up on the 27th.

If either team ends up winning the region, it will be a short drive to Dayton, where the Championship will be held.

BRACKET SET: CARMEN'S CREW BEGINS THE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AGAINST MID AMERICAN UNITY IN COLUMBUS ON JULY 23

The squad of former Buckeyes will meet 16th-seeded Mid American Unity in the first round of the 64-team tournament on July 23. The game will tip off at 9 p.m. the Covelli Center, which will host all of the regional's games between the 23rd and the 27th.

Mid American Unity is built around players from the MAC conference, including JD Weatherspoon, a Columbus native and Northland graduate who played two years at Ohio State before transferring to Toledo. Romeo Travis, a high school teammate of LeBron James, is an assistant coach for them.

Speaking on the TBT selection show, ESPN basketball analyst Seth Greenberg gave his assessment of this year's Carmen's Crew team.

"They do need a little bit of youth but you're talking about what you need for TBT, he said. "First, you've got Dr. Aaron Craft, their doctor in waiting, so if anyone gets hurt, Craft's going to take care of them. He's back. The guy retires, more like Muhammad Ali did when he was boxing. Like every time the season's over, he retires and then he comes back. It's ridiculous. But you've got Dave Lighty who can really score. William Buford was the MVP in 2019 when they won the championships. But they also added Kaleb Wesson, which is absolutely huge because Wesson gives them a versatile front court guy that can make shots. He can play on the perimeter, you can play him in the mid-post, you can play him at the elbow. That's going to be huge. Also, the addition of Keyshawn Woods, who's a shot maker, Shannon Scott gives them a little bit more of the explosiveness on the perimeter. He's been with them before and they're going to need him.

"But here's my question. Sullinger's their coach, Jared Sullinger. He just played in Korea, had a great year, wants to get back into the NBA. Does he come out and play in the TBT? How about Evan Turner? They want to win a title, come on, Evan. Let's go. Let's try and win it again. You're in Columbus. Just a thought."
