TE Marcus Baugh (Birmingham Stallions)

I was so angry at him for the first drop that kept us down 14 and the momentum going their way. Kid came back strong. He was a catalyst for us to move the ball all day and ate the Lbs/Safeties alive down the middle of the field. Glad he got the big catch to keep his confidence up.

URBAN MEYER COACH'S SHOW RECAP: ANNUAL BLACKOUTS, SPOTTING PENN STATE 21 POINTS AND SCOUTING IOWA

On Marcus Baugh:
  • Noted it's been a long road back for Marcus Baugh, who battled early suspensions.
  • While some guys like Raekwon McMillan and J.K. Dobbins handle their business from their first step on campus, it's more common for guys to mature like Baugh, who graduates this semester.
  • Battled nagging injuries the last two years, too. Said he called Baugh's high school coach this week to praise Baugh's attitude of light. "He was never a bad guy."

Loved that Baugh put that early drop (which was awful) behind him and bounced back with some great plays. Not sure where he will rank amongst tOSU tight ends when his career is over, but pretty sure he has surpassed Strassini.

Former Ohio State tight end Marcus Baugh gets another chance with the Carolina Panthers

‘Tis the season for drafts, free-agent signings and second chances for NFL hopefuls. Of course the high draft picks are almost a shoe-in to make an NFL squad, others are simply looking for that extra opportunity to show what they can do.

Count former Ohio State tight end Marcus Baugh in that population. You can also count him in the population of those that got the call they’ve longed for. That’s because he has been given another chance to show what he can do with the Carolina Panthers.

Baugh graduated from Ohio State back in 2017, went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, signed on as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders, but was released prior to the start of the season.

He then got another lease on his football life with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football, but that little experiment of a league failed about a month ago, leaving other professional football players out of work.

He is the second former Buckeye to sign on with an NFL team after trying to carve out a niche with the AAF, the other being former defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle.

Baugh now has another chance to show an NFL team what he can do, and although it’ll be an uphill battle to make the club as an undrafted free agent, you can bet that’s not going to stop him from trying.
