Sweet Potatoes: Like them or Despise Them?

I like them, But not in the traditional brown sugar, marshmallow soup type shit you get at thanksgiving or out of a can.

We usuallly just bake them like a regular potato with some butter on them.

Great with a good steak.

They're quite good, but only if they're properly prepared. Of course, "canned yams" are disgusting, in much the same way that can-molded cranberry goo is disgusting, while fresh cranberry relish is delightful.

For a Thanksgiving side-dish, I do like a little brown sugar sweetness (yeah, I mean just a little), but only because I'll only eat a little bit of it anyway. I think in general they're much better as a savory dish - baked sweet potatos with butter, salt and pepper are delicious, and I had some great sweet potato soup last week.
