HOLDEN RED HOT OFF THE BENCH
The Wright State transfer came off the bench in Tuesday’s exhibition. If Holden keeps playing as he did against Chaminade, that will change in a hurry.

In just 25 minutes of action, Holden dropped 25 points to lead all scorers, hitting 10 of his 12 shots attempts in a highly efficient night. Holden knocked down both of his 3-point shot attempts, dunked the ball twice and converted on several layups as well.

Nineteen of Holden’s points came in the first half alone, as he led a 19-2 run for Ohio State in the final 6:26 before intermission. That stretch essentially snuffed out any hope of a close affair for Chaminade, which couldn’t hang with the Buckeyes after that.

Holtmann said Holden struggled in the Buckeyes’ “secret” scrimmage against Wake Forest last week, but his performance against Chaminade suggests that won’t necessarily be the norm.

“Tanner's been good. Tanner really struggled in the scrimmage. … So I felt like he played better. Obviously, he really came on and did some great things tonight, played really well,” Holtmann said. “But I think the other day was kind of like, 'Whoa.' It was eye-opening for him, and he just came back with the right approach and worked to put his head down and work differently. I knew he would respond.”

A Jeff Spicoli for my Rowdy Raider transfer is most excellent Mr. Hand. I say hey bud, let's party! Now going to bed is going to be really difficult, no way to get my blood pressure back down after that shot haha. I hope that ignites Tanner to a killer season. I'm going to need a couple Bob Ross painting videos to come down from that.

Tanner Holden still growing after Wright State transfer
He hit the game-winning shot, but fourth-year wing Tanner Holden is still working his way into the role envisioned for him in his first year at Ohio State.
“I think Tanner’s still trying to figure out what his impact can be,” Holtmann said. “He’s always been a kid that has really scored the ball. He’s going to need to do that, but he’s also going to need to be a player on both ends. He’s a terrific rebounder at his position. He’s put in the work. It was good to see him knock down that shot. He’s a poised, cool kid in a lot of ways. He has the ability to make big plays and big shots.”

The adjustment to the high-major level is ongoing for him.

“That change in levels is an adjustment for kids,” Holtmann said. “It’s not that they can’t play well on a given night, it’s the consistency in size and athleticism they’re facing night-in and night-out. His role could certainly grow in (scoring) next year but right now we need him to be a guy who can score but consistently defend and rebound.”

I wish they'd give this kid more minutes. He's shooting over 50% from two and three. This team needs another scorer besides Sensabaugh.

Sueing started the season well but he's become an offensive liability. He's attempted the 4th most threes and only makes 25% of them.
I think he isnt getting more because his defense is not good. Hell though, right now, who's is? Might as well put another scorer out there right?

Honestly I think coach pushed the right buttons today. Holden played on but nothing special and the two new starters were actually great. Holden got more minutes which he needed and coach subbed a lot which is what he needed to do. More of all this please

Tanner Holden isn't just in the doghouse that puppy has been nailed shut. He's played a total of 38 minutes the last six games, before today.

He hasn't appeared at Purdue and seems like he won't with only 5 minutes left in a rout.

He's shooting 46% from downtown this season, but obviously Holtmann doesn't like something about his game.
