looking at next year's roster and carton's drive-and-kick ability, there is going to be a need for a deadeye gunner. if ahrens can be a 38%+ guy who plays competent defense, he'll still get valuable minutes despite andre and liddell securing a lot of the small forward playing time. i also think arhens' game can/will expand to a little more dribble-drive. his and wieskamp's games are not dissimilar.

Kid is also more athletic than he was given credit for and at 6'7 I just feell like there is lot's for Holtmann and staff to work with

Justin Ahrens entered the game coming off of a career-high nine points in his last outing. He topped that on Tuesday night. Actually, he more than tripled it.

Ahrens went off for a career-high 29 points on 6-for-10 performance from beyond the arc to help lead the Buckeyes to a 90-70 beatdown of No. 22 Iowa.

"When I got hot, it was going up," Ahrens said of his shooting performance, noting that Iowa probably didn't have a scouting report on him with how few minutes he's played this season.

It was arguably the best individual performance of the season from any player, but Ahrens downplayed his monster night after the game.

"That's great," Ahrens said, "but really we're just working on punching our ticket to the tournament."

This win will certainly help. The Buckeyes were on the bubble entering Tuesday night's game, and a lopsided win against a ranked conference foe can certainly bolster that tournament resume.

Ahrens is going to be streaky but if he is earning those minutes on the floor it's huge because he has established that he is a threat from deep. That is going to do wonders for our spacing and offense even when he's not hot.

It will be interesting to see what happens from here out because it seemed like Iowa didn't respect him at all. Now teams know you have to guard him at the three point line, how will it effect his game?
