Sam has spoken with Coach Peterson and is interested in hearing more from the Bucks. He has offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Kansas and Notre Dame.

Film:

My Take: Explosive. The 45 inch vert and the insane shuttle are obvious in the films...the kid's feet seem to never leave the turf but he is everywhere. He reminds me of the old Billy Sims highlights with his burst, balance, and the hurdle he displayed in one of the clips. I'm not sure this kid will be a RB, but he is nasty in the open field.

Either side of the ball, but he is dangerous with the ball...

Like you said, that is completely evident from his films... I too was very impressed...
I know his interest in us is directly related to Shugarts's interest... Sam is a tremendous athlete, and I hope that that interest would grow and be reciprocated if/when JB were to announce for tOSU...

I may not believe in the buddy system, but when both players are OSU-caliber and have the grades, I don't think it does any harm to send a token offer. It certainly can't hurt our chances with either of them if we offer McGuffie.

Wow Sam has some sick measurables...I'm about to break down and subscribe to Rivals to watch some film:biggrin:. A crazy good vert, blazing shuttle, and 335 bench press is nothing to scoff at. Definetly wouldn't mind seeing an offer go his way...though keeping in mind we have many great athletes on the radar like Fairchild and Adams in our own backyard. How would you guys compare his film to those two?

The measurables are insane, but check out his stats as well: last season, he had over 3,600 yards from scrimmage on nearly 400 touches, which shows both incredible ability and durability. At 5' 10", 191 pounds, Sam is not just a "scat back", but a worskhorse who can take some punishment (and his film clips show that he does run well between the tackles and isn't afraid to take a hit). Nice prospect, probably worth an offer.

Except when he is hurdling a defender.... :yow1:

He is either going to Michigan or Oklahoma. Shugarts top 3 are probably OSU,Oklahoma, and Michigan. I see shugarts going to Oklahoma or OSU and Mcguffie going to Michigan.

It is way too early to write anyone off. Remember last year at this time Ronald Johnson was basically a scUM lock, but look where he is now.

and Dionte Allen, and Jerimy Finch, and Eugene Clifford......

Anyways, you are 1,000,000,000 % correct though aurorabuckeye. Nothing is a lock until that LOI is signed, sealed, delivered.

Back to Sam though, early on it seemed like he was focusing on just A&M, TTech, and Michigan, but now that more schools have started to give him attention he seems to have opened things up a little more. Sam's parents are from Michigan and he's got family back in Michigan. He admits that he grew up a Wolverine fan, but lots of kids say that at this stage and they don't end up at Michigan.

People thinking Sam isn't legit have zero clue. That talk mainly comes from Texas fans, and they say that because Texas isn't after the kid hard. Sam plays against the toughest competition that the state of Texas has to offer, and he dominates that competition. I think he could stay at RB, but if his vertical proves to be 45" and his height 5'10, with his speed and those quick feet you might want to give him a go at corner.

I'd rather have Darrell Scott.

Go Blue!

Uhhh, who wouldn't want Darrell Scott? Scott is probably the best RB in the nation in his class, and would've been in the discussion as best in 2007 class, and '07 was a loaded year at the top for RB's what with Marc Tyler, Noel Devine, Chris Rainey, Caleb King, and Joe McKnight.

This thread is about Sam McGuffie though, not Darrell Scott. McGuffie is a legit D-1 prospect and a ridiculous athlete. I'd be thrilled if Michigan landed him. I'd much rather have him on my team than not.
