No no no, that was COMPLETELY unacceptable, no matter how much "passion" you play with.

That was a gross act of viciousness. The tackle was made, and his arm didnt just happen to land on the QBs neck. He made the tackle, then held his ENTIRE weight on that QBs neck.

Just because he is one of our own does not make that act one of "passion." It was a gruesome act of violence.

Luckily, no one got hurt.

And then he/she added, "I would know, I played one year of tag-football my Junior year of High School in summer gym class."

i dont think the gym class thing matters because i mean its not something that should be accepted.

AJ Hawk plays with as much passion as anyone and he has never done something like that.

just imagine if a michigan player were to choke craig krenzel....what would you think of him

Yeah, it's perfectly OK to ram your forearm across the throat of an oppoenent who's pinned down on the turf. :roll1: Maybe you need to add a "b" and an "s" to your moniker.

You have to admire the passion he played with. Sometimes those things happen in the heat of the battle. Unfortunate, but part of the process at some point.

Lani,

Don't see where I said it was perfectly okay to...blah...blah... I think I said something along the lines of, "Unfortunate, but part of the process at some point."

Maybe you should add, "This message was authenticated by Dan Rather" under your Moniker.

The point is that all defenders have to play with an unreal amount of tenacity and passion. But they also are responsible for keeping those actions from carrying over into personal attacks or violence. That's why he was penalized. That's why he was suspended. That's why we all shake our heads when we think of #44 that year.

Hmm... Dumas, maybe you could claim you are a victim in this if you hadn't taken a retarded cheapshot at Oneshot. I've never played a down of football in my life, but anyone who knows anything about athletic competition knows there's a line that must not be crossed between intensity/violence.

Not to defend Reynolds, but the fact is he got caught. He didn't expect to get caught. The nut-grabbing, foot-twisting, spitting, etc...usually don't get caught. It ain't just that lawless Ohio State football program that does it. Similarly, Turbo isn't the only Buck to do something like that in a game.

CrackDumbass: You didn't have to literally say it...you clearly implied it when you said to Oneshot, quote: "And then he/she added, "I would know, I played one year of tag-football my Junior year of High School in summer gym class." ", unquote, insinuating the Oneshot was wrong in saying the Reynolds' actions were unacceptable. Spitting, leg-twisting, nut-grabbing, etc., may go on underneath a pile, but trying to crush a QB's throat with your forearm is way over the line.

Hey, can you all believe it? One of the "Supreme Beings of BP" is attacking with profanity again on this site. The same language that gets the rest of us reprimanded and suspended.

So, not only does he/she put words in other people's mouths, but he/she also makes attacks with vulgar language.

Ladies and gentleman, we have a real winner on our hands...

First of all, if you knew anything about BP's rules you would know there are no restrictions on language outside of the recruiting forum. So please constrain your slanderous whines about others swearing to alleged violations seen in that forum.

Second, let's retrace the conversation.

> Mili - Reynolds choking clip
> ZachDumas - You have to admire the passion he played with. Sometimes those things happen in the heat of the battle. Unfortunate, but part of the process at some point. Go Bucks!
> OneShot - No no no, that was COMPLETELY unacceptable, no matter how much "passion" you play with...etc
> ZachDumas - And then he/she added, "I would know, I played one year of tag-football my Junior year of High School in summer gym class."

Your response to Mili pointing out the most embarrassing video clip for buckeye fans in recent memory was to say: well yeah it was unfortunate (which implies bad fortune of getting caught rather than it being immoral/unethical).

Then OneShot says no there is no excuse for choking someone, and what do you reply with? Nothing short of the most retarded "putting words in people's mouth" post I've seen in a while. You belittle OneShot for not being one of the jocks who are clearly justified in doing whatever they want, and categorize him as a wuss who can't possibly understand whether or not its wrong to try and crush someone's throat. Talk about making up crap, how the heck (and no I'm not censoring myself for you, tho you'd love to think so) do you know what OneShot played? And further more, why the heck does it matter?

So far we have you referring to the incident as unfortunate and then mocking anyone who believes it is wrong.

I'll let you respond to those two points to see if you can possibly redeem yourself at all in this thread.

"Now I Know Why a Tiger Eats Their Young"

scUM,

1. Unfortunate means that it was unfortunate that is happened at all, not that he got caught. At some point, it happens in this violent game. Not excusing the actions, because it was wrong. But, it happens. That was my point.

2. You are perceptive and correct. I did put words in OneShot's mouth, as indicated by the quotation marks. It is apparent by his remarks that he is on the outside looking in without any actual experience of what it is like to play at such a high level. Reynolds was not trying to kill Sergi as some may think, he was trying to win a game and lost "it" for a split second. It is hard to explain, but if you get it, then you get it.

3. I apologize for not knowing that there are different rules for different forums. It is not intuitive that you can curse on some forums and not on others within the same site. I should spend a few evenings memorizing the site's rules.

Thanks for the help.

The point is everyone here is responding to the posts that you made. You did not state that it was wrong. Many football players realize that there is dirty stuff that is sort of part of the game, but there is a clear difference between that and choking someone.

Your initial post was not some awful post that we're complaining about. However when OneShot responded saying no amount of passion justified it, your response was not to acknowledge that fact but rather to belittle OneShot and offer nothing but a troll response. Had you acknowledged that passion must not lead to violence, but then expanded on how unjustified violence is inevitable we would not be having this discussion.

I understand what you mean about playing in a game, and having to toe the line between all-out ferocity and violence. Football is one of the more violent sports, but the principle is applied to any sport which involves serious contact (rugby, hockey, even soccer). However, unlike many nuances of football, this concept is one that can be understood by non-football players as well.

BP is unique in that it only censors one portion of the site. However this is not a case of us sneaking the rule book up on you for nothing. You deemed it necessary to belittle one of the top mods of this board and do so by standing on non-existant grounds. I understand you not knowing the rule, but its not usually a great practice to attack a mod in such fashion if you do indeed not know the rules.
