Reverend Dabo Swinney (HC Clemson Tigers - GSCS), random mid-century cars, and steroids

Jax in Jaxbuck stands for Jacksonville, no? If you were able to live in Jacksonville and get out of there without knowing Dale Earnhardt's number.. well... that's probably the most impressive thing I'll ever see. Dad was 3. Junior was 8.... and for the record, I've only lived in Ohio, New York, and Minnesota... and yet I know their numbers. :(

Yes. When I first darkened Clarity's door way back in 2004 I was living in Jacksonville Florida and with my usual wit, could think of no better handle than jaxbuck.

Between ATL and Jacksonville I lived in the CSA for the better part of 16 years. Moved up to Philly in 2011.

As for not knowing the difference between Jr and SR, well...rednecks all look alike to me.

That piece of shit Bin Laden was directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent American civilians and he did it less than 20 years ago. There is just no good way for a public figure to be making jokes about it.
While you're unquestionably correct about bin Laden, you ought to look at the video of the very Jewish Mel Brooks talking about "Springtime for Hitler" and how to joke about the Holocaust.

At some point, being able to joke about horrific events and people helps rob them of their power. Personally I have no problem with what Dabo said ... but I also have no problem with those who are offended by it.

More civilians died in the 9/11 attacks than U.S. soldiers died at Pearl Harbor.

The attacks launched a global war on terrorism that has been going for almost 18 years and has cost the lives of another 10K Americans with collateral civilian damage at uncountable level.

I think Dabo's comments were tone deaf at worst, personally, but to characterize 9/11 as a local attack on Wall Street/overblown local cause is pretty far from the mark imo.

Did I even mention Pearl Harbor?
2,000 Americans lost their lives in a single day at Antietam. I'm not even counting the traitors.
2,000 died in the couple of months it took to secure Okinawa.
Some 5,000 Americans died on Omaha Beach alone.
Some 4,000 died for MacArthur's vain political ambition when he ignored the Chinese crossing the Yalu. And he got a golden parachute and still praised by many as a great leader.

We threw human bodies at many wars. 9/11 wasn’t about lives lost, because this country (and more importantly this govt) doesn’t care a great deal about lives lost. It’s because it happened on our soil by a foreign party. It’s an emotional argument not a logical one.

And it was against the noble well-to-do class. Nobody cared about USS Cole a year earlier. People only care about Libya insofar as they can blame a specific politician.
If they had poisoned 3000 people via Waffle House, we'd be talking about the merits of Purge day and improved local economy.

So I’m sitting here in my truck reading this Dabo thread with all these thought-provoking comments about the value of human life and the appropriate uses of humor in the face of horrendous acts and senseless suffering. I can do this in my truck because I’m stuck here waiting for a train rolling down a track which crosses the road at a different angle than the direction I’m traveling and…

…hang on a sec., I had a point…

Any chance your point was anything remotely related to Dabo? If so you missed the chance to post the only one in quite a while........
