Real Racing, Formula One, F1 (official thread)

This race is starting to look like everyday traffic in Italy.
Finally got a chance to watch it after a DVR malfunction this marooning. Entertaining race, even though I was hoping Valtteri would bring it home. Just didn’t have it in him today, and Lewis has so much mental toughness, it’s unreal.

Unfortunately, this championship is over. Would be very interesting to be a fly on the wall during the Merc debrief.

The best sporting event of the entire day has been watching non-stop Le Mans coverage on the Motor Trend channel. It's been dark over there all afternoon and evening (4AM right now), and it's been great tv sports. Drivers are tired and making mistakes. Cars are tired and breaking down.

Jumping on the elliptical now with hopes that I can catch some of the highlights. I dig the LMGTEs. Much closer to home than the LMP2s.

Lewis Hamilton ties Michael Schumacher's record of 91 F1 race wins

Lewis Hamilton moved level with Michael Schumacher's record of 91 Formula One wins with victory at the Eifel Grand Prix.

Hamilton won comfortably after Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas suffered a race-ending engine issue. The win increases Hamilton's lead to 69 points in the championship.

Hamilton is also on course to claim a seventh world championship this season, which would move him level with the only remaining significant record in Schumacher's name.

They need to do something about Stroll. The entitled rich kid thinks he's a much better driver than he really is, and he's going to kill somebody if they don't reign him in. Any team not owned by his father would be looking to shitcan him back down to F2 after the last race.

I’m also glad the safety car got there fast. But since Grosjean started in the last row, and the safety car trails the field for part of the first lap, and the accident was in turn 3 of the initial lap, and the fireball lit up the sky upon impact; it would have been inexcusable for them not to get there in a matter of seconds.

It was amazing to see an F1 car get ripped in half like that. Obviously the safety folks will be studying what was left of the car and the barrier to learn what happened and to try to avoid anything similar occurring in the future.
