RB Ezekiel Elliott (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All Pro, Dallas Cowboys)

His license was suspended for doing 4 MPH over the limit on I-670 in Columbus in May. He failed to pay the fine.

Court records for case "2015 TRD 134190" show Columbus police officer Jerome Collins cited Elliott May 13, 2015, for driving 59 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-670 West near the I-71 interchange. Though a citation for four miles over the speed limit could be seen as nefarious, it's possible Officer Collins reduced to the citation speed to avoid putting points on Elliott's license. It's also possible Elliott sped through a construction zone.

If anything, this wreck gives buckeye nation a chance to freak out over nothing and the holier-than-thou portion to stand up and shout "told you so"....

That is not a very good attitude at all. Just because no one was injured does not mean that he should be driving on a suspended license.. I hope you do not have any children who are currently driving.
I do, but at 8 years old, I don't need to concern myself with a suspended license.

I hope you don't have kids that read with your reading comprehension. I said the accident itself was not an issue. I still expressed concern about the license portion of it. The accident specified happens with a valid license as well, and with a normal license, my statement still stands. No one got hurt, so the accident itself is a non-issue.

Wow. Unless it was in a construction zone, I've never seen/heard a cop pull someone over for just 4 over on the Interstate

Leaving aside whether the ticket is b.s. or not (4 mph over w/o extenuating circumstances like zero tolerance for a construction zone or the cop providing a "break" from an actual higher speed violation is b.s. in my book), for Pete's sake Zeke, either pay it or fight it and, either way, don't let it reach the ludicrous point of a license suspension. Then, if it does, for Pete's sake Zeke, don't drive until you get it cleared up. :smash:

I'm not especially worked up about it (banging head smiley notwithstanding) but, much like the situation with Washington, I hate to see a guy who's been pretty much a model citizen, teammate, and Buckeye since day 1 leave room for disparagement of himself and the program when it would have been so easy not to do so.

Most people won't know their license is suspended.
I had mine suspended once for a parking ticket that I wasn't there to receive. Didn't get any mail to let me know or anything at all. I found out when it went to collections, and then had the wherewithal to check with the traffic court about my license.

Not saying his situation is the same. He willfully got a stupid ticket, didn't show up to court, and didn't pay the fine... which is all pretty boneheaded... but college kids ? Still, he probably had no idea about the license being suspended.

I wonder how many students have their licenses suspended for the majority of their stay at OSU for those parking tickets (not Zekes offense just pondering). I know campus used to be pretty much non stop towing people for illegal parking. Is that still the norm or has there been enough parking finally built in the area?

This sucks mostly because of the ignorant holier-than-thou haters. Too many people don't understand that there is no cookie cutter way for you to have your license suspended. And as for the 4 MPH over, it could be an officer who wants to lay the hammer down or it could be an officer being nice and simply writing a number that's in the lower tier of fines.

I had my license suspended (essentially) twice within the same year when I was 17 and what a mess of a situation it was while being basically out of my control. After getting into a little fender bender in the winter, my insurance company tried to say my mom never added my car to the insurance policy. After phone calls, attorney visits, yada yada... both of us still wound up with suspended licenses. We thought the suspensions ended 90 days (or whatever it was) later only to find out in the late spring that they were still suspended. Then a scramble trip to Columbus to a hearing we thought we needed to attend only to find out that we didn't need to be present and the suspension was being lifted anyways...

So, yeah, I can see where lack of communication can make for a suspension to go unknown. Sadly many see "suspended license" and assume it means the person got it taken away for endangering lives and being a menace to society.

Some times cops are given a "quota system" for advancement in the force.
That's what happened to my wife. Cop wanted a raise and was told the only way he'd get one was writing more tickets.
Traffic Court Judge knew what was going on and "suggested" my wife give a "donation" to local antiviolence against women league. And pay court costs. Deal!
